Job Summary:

Saha Lab at Wisconsin Institute of Discovery (WID) is looking to hire a project manager to assist in managing the Follower and Trailblazer projects for the U19 CRISPR Vision Program. This program is funded by the National Institute of Health and helps innovate non-viral gene editing therapies for inherited retinal disorders. Our work aims to bring the groundbreaking potential of CRISPR technology to those affected by these diseases.

As a project manager, you will be part of a team that is pushing the frontiers of gene editing technology. You will be managing projects within a program that is improving viral delivery systems and introducing novel, non-viral treatments for inherited eye diseases, particularly those affecting the retinal pigment epithelium.

You will be collaborating with a diverse team of several labs and groups within and outside of UW Madison. This includes the University of Massachusetts Medical College, the Morgridge Institute for Research, Waisman Manufacturing, and Wisconsin Institute for Discovery. You will interact with scientists at the forefront of gene editing research.

Responsibilities:

  • Creates a project plan, monitors progress and performance against the project plan, and identifies, resolves, or escalates risks and issues
  • Manages the activities of outside contractors to ensure they are integrated into the project and that the organization receives satisfactory standards of service
  • Facilitates the estimation of project costs, resources, and time required to complete the assigned phase of a project and monitors activities, negotiates for resources, and assigns tasks to ensure these targets are met. Follows established change control processes if targets can no longer be met
  • Prepares regular reports to communicate the status of the project within and beyond the project team
  • Sets priorities, allocates tasks, and collaborates with project staff to meet project targets and milestones

Education:

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in project management or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) with a project management certificate.

Qualifications:

Required: Experience in project management providing clear direction and establishing work priorities to achieve goals. Demonstrated track record of organizational skills, attention to details, and meeting deadlines.

Preferred: Experience with federal (e.g. NIH, NSF, DOD), state, foundation or industry funding mechanisms. Demonstrated experience managing STEM projects. Experience in a higher education setting.

Work Type:

Full Time: 100% This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $65,449 ANNUAL (12 months) Depending on Qualifications The typical starting salary for this position is $65,449 to $93,592 depending on qualifications and experience.
