Pay Rate: Rate may vary due to local or non-local contracted rates: $56-$61/hr combined Rate of pay. (Pay packages are a combination of taxable hourly rates, tax free allowances for travel, housing, and meal allowances) Rates are subject to change via client need.

General Medical-Surgical Nurse Role: A Medical-Surgical Nurse provides direct care to patients in a general medical and surgical setting. They manage various medical conditions, assist with post-operative recovery, perform assessments, administer medications, and ensure patient comfort.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care needs.
- Monitor vital signs, including blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen saturation.
- Provide preoperative and postoperative care, including wound care and pain management.
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as feeding, bathing, and dressing.
- Provide emotional support to patients and families.
Medical Administration:
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments, observing for side effects.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to coordinate care plans.
- Prepare patients for surgeries and ensure recovery post-surgery.
Monitoring and Reporting:
- Observe patient responses to treatments and report significant changes to physicians.
- Maintain knowledge of patient documentation according to hospital policy.
Patient Education:
- Educate patients and families on health conditions and treatment plans.
- Provide guidance on home care, medication regimens, and lifestyle modifications.
Infection Control and Safety:
- Adhere to infection control protocols and monitor infection signs.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort during hospital stays.
Team Collaboration:
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, participating in shift handoffs and communication about patient status.
Emergency Response:
- Respond to medical emergencies and assist in life-saving procedures.
- Use critical thinking to assess and react to patient status changes.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Education: RN with an ADN or BSN.
- Licensure: Valid state RN license.
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS may be required.
- Experience: Previous experience in a medical-surgical unit preferred.
- Skills: Strong clinical assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Work Environment:
- Work typically in hospital settings such as medical-surgical units and recovery units.
- Possible night, weekend, and holiday shifts depending on staffing needs.
- Physical demands include standing for long periods and lifting patients.
Physical and Emotional Demands:
- Ability to lift and move patients or equipment.
- Emotional resilience to manage stress and patient care challenges.
- Focus and adaptability under pressure in an ever-changing environment.
