Description

Loss Prevention/Security Investigator

The Loss Prevention/Security Investigator is responsible for ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures while safeguarding company assets and personnel. This role involves conducting investigations into policy violations, fraudulent activities, and security concerns, as well as providing fact-based documentation and recommendations for resolution. The position requires collaboration with internal stakeholders and law enforcement agencies, participation in security audits, and the facilitation of training programs as needed.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Conduct external investigations involving criminal activities such as fraud, robbery, and theft.
  • Perform internal investigations to assess compliance with company policies using specialized databases and operational tools.
  • Interview employees and external parties to collect, validate, and document information.
  • Prepare detailed investigative reports and communicate findings to relevant departments.
  • Act as a liaison with law enforcement agencies on security-related matters.
  • Provide courtroom testimony as required.
  • Audit customer transactions by reviewing CCTV footage, system records, and merchandise documentation.
  • Conduct security inspections of company locations, evaluating alarm systems, surveillance equipment, and safes.
  • Analyze daily reports to identify fraudulent activities and work with shop leadership to ensure compliance.
  • Develop and distribute internal communications regarding fraud prevention, counterfeit detection, and emerging security threats.
  • Lead loss prevention training programs for employees at various levels.
  • Manage multiple investigations, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Collaborate with legal and human resources departments on investigative matters.
  • Analyze data related to burglaries, robberies, and security risks, providing regular reports and recommendations.
  • Oversee security-related initiatives and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum three years of experience in a security investigator role.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (10+ years in investigations or law enforcement preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of interview and interrogation techniques.
  • Experience with security investigation software, exception-based reporting tools, and data analysis systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct formal training sessions and presentations.
  • Extensive travel required.
  • Bilingual candidates preferred.

Bonus Skills

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
