Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitates the pupil's learning of reading, language arts, science, social science, mathematics, art, health, physical education and music, utilizing courses of study adopted by the Board of Education; may teach a foreign language.
- Guides pupils in the development of good citizenship, basic human relations, and provides opportunities for student leadership and initiative.
- Provides planned learing experiences in order to motivate pupils to best utilize the available time for learning.
- Plans instruction and uses materials that accommodate different learning styles and ability levels of children.
- Establishes standards of pupil behavior beneficial to achieving a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Evaluates pupil's academic and social growth, prepares progress reports, and communicates with parents on the individual pupil's progress.
- Encourages pupil creativity, personal development, and self-assesment.
- Works with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, behavior and learning problems.
- Selects appropriate books, instructional aids, and instructional supplies.
- Administers group-standardized tests in accordance with District testing programs.
