Under the direction of the Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer or designee(s), the Senior Compliance Data Analyst is responsible for:
- Creating necessary reports and data analysis for the compliance team to be able to identify trends that may create compliance risks for the organization.
- Collating data and providing comparisons of information so that the Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer can make informed decisions regarding areas of risk to focus on for the compliance workplan.
- Pulling information related to annual training and sorting into to provide meaningful in-formation to the compliance team.
- Accessing the Human Resources, the Erlanger Online Learning, the electronic medical record, and other systems necessary to acquire data to assess ongoing compliance concern, evaluate potential risks, and share information with the Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer as well as others on the compliance team.
- Developing and performing gap analysis reviews and updating compliance policies & procedures, guidelines, standards, and supporting documentation to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all EHS electronic assets.
- Collaborating with other members of the EH Office of Compliance and Privacy Services, Legal Department, and Technology Management Department to ensure alignment between security and privacy compliance programs including policies, practices, investigations.
- Acting as a liaison between the Office of Compliance and Privacy Services, Information Security Office and Technology Management Department
- Developing and support delivery of initial and ongoing federal and state regulatory related Compliance training to the workforce.
- Conducting related ongoing federal and state regulatory related compliance monitoring activities in coordination with the organization's other compliance and operational assessment functions.
- Maintaining current knowledge of applicable state and federal privacy and security laws, regulations and applicable accreditation standards.
- Participate in the Compliance/Tech/Data Review Meetings to provide input and feed-back on new technical solutions to be used by TMD and operational business units.
- Create reports and perform data analytics related to the Office of Compliance and Privacy Services to assess billing coding, and documentation reviews.
- Work with the Echart team to produce necessary reports for said data analytics. Work with MDAudit to evaluate and produce reports associated with risk analysis for billing, coding, and documentation reviews.
Other duties as assigned by the Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer.
Education
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field from a four-year accredited college.
- Knowledge and experience in federal and applicable state Privacy and Information Security laws, regulations and practices.
- Knowledge and experience with the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH Act).
- Working knowledge and experience with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards related to information security and Cybersecurity Framework
- Knowledge of data analytics, preferrable in healthcare.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel and Access.
- Proficient knowledge of spreadsheet/graphics, presentation, database, and report writer software.
- Strong project management skills, along with the ability to take initiative and work independently.
- Required certification- Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Certified Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) or Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or simi-lar industry recognized compliance/privacy certification or be willing to obtain such designation within 12months of start date.
Experience
Required:
- Five to seven years' experience working in data analytics role, ideally with a healthcare privacy, compliance, and/or audit, focus and/or healthcare information security systems role.
- Clear knowledge of federal and applicable state laws and regulations associated to healthcare compliance, including but not limited to the False Claims Act, Stark, Anti-Kickback, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH).
- Background in data analytics.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and proactive thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional demeanor, appearance and positive attitude.
- Presentation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Visio, Access, Outlook, Publisher, PowerPoint) with a specific focus on advance knowledge of Excel and Access.
- Knowledge of common medical terms.
- Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Certification in reporting function of the Epic EMR system.
- Experience in data mining, analysis, report development and project management.
- Experience conducting investigations and audits in a healthcare environment.
- Ability to communicate compliance, privacy, information security and risk-related concepts to technical and non-technical audiences; persuasive, encouraging, motivating and inspiring.
- Ability to communicate and work with others through stressful situations to formulate a resolution that meets the needs of the organization as a whole in compliance with policies, procedures and regulations.
- High degree of initiative, dependability and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Adaptable and flexible, with the ability to handle ambiguity and sometimes changing priorities
- Healthcare clinical background.
The Senior Compliance Data Analyst must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively perform the job. As such, the employee must:
- Provide meaningful data analytics by acquiring data from sources internal and external to the Office of Compliance and Privacy Services that allow the Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer to make informed decisions regarding areas of risk for the organization. Monitor, evaluate, and validate safeguards and controls to ensure that systems, documentation, and processes are adequate and compliant with established policies, procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide necessary data analytics to support the other members if the compliance team in their review, manage, and reporting of compliance reviews and investigations. Routinely update the Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer, and/or designee(s) on the status of each case.
- Serve as the primary or back-up administrator for the software solutions used by the Office of Compliance and Privacy Service.
- Act as liaison between the Corporate Compliance and Privacy Office, the Chief Information Security Officer and EH Technology Management Department to ensure the timely investigation, resolution and closure of privacy and information security incidents reported to the EH Office of Compliance and Privacy Services.
- Support the development, review, and update of Compliance Awareness training programs as required to meet organizational goals.
- Track and manage all assigned system and department policies to ensure timely research, drafting, review, and renewal.
- Serve as a representative on Compliance/Tech/Data Review Meetings.
- Provide data analytics to support the compliance billing, coding, and documentation assessment process.
- Help to evaluate, through data analytics, a risk-based audit approach for the Office of Compliance and Privacy Services.
- Gather, collate, and prepare metrics for presentation to the various compliance committees and senior leadership.
- Obtain and/or maintain required certifications and continuing education requirements.
- Other Duties as assigned by the Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer or designee(s).
