Divisional Director

  • Leads and supervises assigned Program Directors and support personnel and supports their work to achieve annual goals and agreed upon results
  • Works with Vice President to hire and terminate assigned Programs Directors/Supervisors/frontline staff, as appropriate in consultation with and with the approval of the Chief Program Officer and HR
  • Provides leadership and vision for their designated program areas
  • Collaborates with Vice President to develop a strategic plan for the designated program areas
  • Collaborates with Vice President on Requests for Proposal (including writing, organizing data and other components to secure funding)
  • Develops and monitors budgets with designated Financial Director, for all program areas and reports areas of strength or improvement to Vice President and Chief Program Officer.
  • Develops and monitors with oversight from the Vice President, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) with designated Quality Director, for all program areas and reports areas of strength or improvement to Chief Program Officer.
  • Develops and monitors with oversight from the Vice President, staff professional development efforts and work-related needs with the Center for Professional Development and Human Resources
  • Works with Vice President of Division to monitors all incidents and crisis within the program area and works with the Quality Improvement department to ensure that safety plans and corrective actions are in place and that the appropriate stakeholder is notified (SCR; Justice Center; etc.)
  • Participates in regular check-ins and leadership meetings with Vice President and Chief Program Officer.
  • Participates and regularly attends, as a member of Administrative Council and collaborates with members of Administrative Council related to program and strategic planning to advance the agency’s vision, mission, and goals
  • Interfaces with internal and external stakeholders through direct contact, meetings and workgroups.
  • Works with Vice President as an advocate with staff on Executive Cabinet and Executive Council for program fundraising and support from stakeholders regarding program area issues impacting the population related to the social determinants of health
  • A spokesperson in collaboration with Cabinet member, when appropriate, related to program funding needs with City, State, and Private funders
  • Approves all program expenditures for up to $1,000
  • Serve as the back-up for the Vice President of the portfolio when deemed appropriate

The scope of Responsibility: To provide leadership and executive management to a variety of housing programs and programs geared towards transition age youth. To oversee the overall execution of person-centered and family-focused initiatives to support permanency; reduce recidivism; and support the transitions of youth and families into permanency:

  • INN’s Programs
  • Brooklyn Youth Center
  • Supportive Housing Programs
  • Shelter Programs

The Divisional Director In Sum Is Responsible For

  • Successfully managing designated programs in the division program portfolio to exceed agreed upon goals with an agreed upon budget
  • Collaborate with the Vice President; other Administrative Council Representatives, and Cabinet members to lead SCO in a way that achieves the mission and consistently grows the impact of SCO for those served
  • Collaborate when appropriate with internal and external stakeholders in advocacy, resource development and other initiatives that advance the impact of SCO
  • Serve as the back-up for the existing Vice President when appropriate

Qualifications: 5 or more years of progressively responsible management experience of human services programs with a demonstrated record of achievement. Master’s degree in administrative, social work, or another related field. Licensure preferred.

Relationship with Others: As part of the Administrative Council at SCO and a leader of the Housing Services, the Divisional Director always demonstrates through behaviors and actions her/his commitment to the mission and values of SCO and the success of the entire SCO Family of Services. The Divisional Director encourages the highest standards of services and collaboration of their assigned areas and in their dealing with the members of staff and the Executive Council and Executive Cabinet.

Also, the Divisional Director and those under their supervision need to demonstrate the following characteristics consistently:

  • A strong belief in people’s ability to grow and change; forge a mutually respectful partnership with persons served and their families
  • An ability to set limits and maintain helping role of the practitioner and to intervene appropriately

Working Conditions: Office environment; requires travel to various program locations; on call 24/7.
