Summary
The Afterschool Education Specialist is responsible for ensuring instructional quality and compliance across ICS’s Afterschool Programs. This role supports curriculum development, lesson planning, staff training, and alignment to school-day goals. The Education Specialist also plays a key role in DYCD compliance by overseeing attendance entry, documentation, and preparing for monitoring visits. The Education Specialist works in partnership with the Afterschool Coordinator, operational staff, and school leadership to deliver high-quality, compliant, and engaging afterschool programming.

The Education Specialist works in partnership with the Afterschool Coordinator, operational staff, and school leadership to deliver high-quality, compliant, and engaging afterschool programming.
Responsibilities
- Support the design and implementation of daily academic and enrichment activities, ensuring lessons are aligned with ICS’s mission and student needs.
- Coach, guide, and provide feedback to Afterschool Teachers and Teacher Residents to ensure instructional quality.
- Maintain DYCD Portal compliance, including accurate and timely attendance entry, enrollment updates, and program data reporting.
- Be present and prepared for DYCD site visits, ensuring required documentation, lesson plans, schedules, and compliance binders are complete and accessible.
- Assist the Afterschool Coordinator with lesson planning, curriculum mapping, and integration of STEM, literacy, and movement activities.
- Monitor classroom environments, ensuring lessons are engaging, inclusive, and supportive of diverse learning needs.
- Collaborate with staff to implement accommodations and supports for students with IEPs/504 plans.
- Track and analyze student data to support continuous program improvement and evaluation.
- Communicate regularly with families, sharing updates on student participation and program highlights.
- Support logistics for student trips and events, including curriculum tie-ins, planning, and chaperoning.
- Participate in staff training, professional development, and program evaluations.
- Strong instructional leadership skills and knowledge of curriculum design.
- Familiarity with DYCD Portal systems (attendance, enrollment, compliance) required.
- Experience preparing for and participating in DYCD monitoring visits.
- Ability to coach and develop teachers and youth staff in a supportive manner.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, youth development, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
$55/hr
