Research Project Coordinator or Senior Research Project Coordinator at University of Maryland, Baltimore
The Center for Behavioral Health and Well-Being Research (BHWell) within the University of Maryland School of Social Work is seeking a full-time Research Project Coordinator OR Senior Research Project Coordinator to support a portfolio of grant-funded public health and research initiatives. This role coordinates day-to-day implementation, partner engagement, training logistics, public health campaign support, and evaluation activities across projects including the ACCESS grant, Workplace PROSPER, and multi-state men’s suicide prevention initiatives utilizing Man Therapy. The position works closely with faculty, community organizations, employers, public health agencies, and campaign partners to support program delivery, data collection, IRB compliance, and reporting requirements. The coordinator also contributes to development of educational and promotional materials and supports dissemination of research and program outcomes. The selected candidate’s title will be determined based on their education and experience.

- Primary Duties Research Project Coordinator
- Coordinate day-to-day project implementation activities across BHWell initiatives, including ACCESS, Workplace PROSPER, and Man Therapy, ensuring alignment with timelines, deliverables, and grant requirements.
- Organize and manage logistics for trainings, meetings, worksite visits, campaign activities, and partner engagement events, including scheduling, materials preparation, and follow-up.
- Develop and maintain relationships with employers, community organizations, public health partners, and campaign collaborators to support outreach, onboarding, and ongoing engagement.
- Support and implement public health campaign activities, including preparing promotional materials, assisting with marketing and social media outreach, and coordinating dissemination efforts.
- Assist with research and evaluation activities, including participant recruitment, survey administration, interview scheduling, incentive tracking, and documentation.
- Prepare, enter, and maintain project data in tracking systems (e.g., Microsoft 365, REDCap, Qualtrics), and support data quality checks and reporting processes.
- Assist with IRB submissions and compliance activities, including preparing study materials, consent documents, modifications, and maintaining regulatory documentation.
- Develop and update educational, promotional, and resource materials, and coordinate with service providers to maintain accurate and relevant community resource information.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Senior Research Project Coordinator
- Independently manages operations of BHWell initiatives, including ACCESS, Workplace PROSPER, and Man Therapy. Serves as the primary liaison to other departments, outside organizations, government agencies, and product representatives to promote effective and efficient operation and use of resources. Provide guidance and direction to personnel engaged in projects to ensure compliance with protocols and overall objectives.
- Oversees logistics for trainings, meetings, worksite visits, campaign activities, and partner engagement events, including scheduling, materials preparation, and follow-up.
- Monitors activities to ensure compliance with protocols and all relevant local, federal, and state regulatory and institutional policies. Continuously educates and trains personnel on compliance and protocol. Identifies protocol problems, informs investigators, and assists in problem resolution efforts.
- Manages research and evaluation activities, including participant recruitment, survey administration, interview scheduling, incentive tracking, and documentation.
- Develops, prepares, enters, and maintains project data in tracking systems (e.g., Microsoft 365, REDCap, Qualtrics), and support data quality checks and reporting processes. Responsible for developing and producing custom and routine reports.
- Oversees IRB submissions and compliance activities, including preparing study materials, consent documents, modifications, and maintaining regulatory documentation.
- Develop and update educational, promotional, and resource materials, and coordinate with service providers to maintain accurate and relevant community resource information.
- Assists in budget development, expenditure adherence, grant applications, and maintenance of inventory on equipment and supplies.
- Provides training and guidance to less experienced personnel.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Research Project Coordinator
Education: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or related field is required. Master’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, Community Health, Behavioral Health, Psychology, or related field is preferred.
Preferred Experience: At least one (1) year of relevant professional experience in public health, behavioral health, suicide prevention, substance use prevention or recovery, harm reduction, workplace wellness, community outreach, health communication, program coordination, or related areas.
Other: Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 undergraduate college credits being equivalent to one year of related experience. In instances where specific education and/or experience is required only directly related education and/or experience may be substituted.
Senior Research Project Coordinator

Experience: Two (2) years of research coordination experience with at least one (1) of relevant professional experience in public health, behavioral health, suicide prevention, substance use prevention or recovery, harm reduction, workplace wellness, community outreach, health communication, program coordination, or related areas.
Other: Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 undergraduate college credits being equivalent to one year of related experience. In instances where specific education and/or experience is required only directly related education and/or experience may be substituted.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience working with diverse community populations and/or community-based partners.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating multiple operational activities and timelines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and basic data tracking systems.
- Knowledge of harm reduction, trauma-informed approaches, recovery-oriented systems of care, workplace well-being, suicide prevention, and stigma reduction principles.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to communicate respectfully and non-judgmentally with diverse partners and communities.
- Ability to coordinate logistics, schedules, inventory systems, and project documentation.
- Ability to assist with IRB documentation, grant reporting, evaluation tracking, and compliance-related activities.
- Strong writing and editing skills for reports, partner communications, promotional materials, meeting summaries, and educational resources.
Coordinator Hiring Range:$49,000 - $55,000, commensurate with education and experience.
Senior Coordinator Hiring Range: $59,000 - $65,000, commensurate with education and experience.
