AVK Industrial Products, a Precision Castparts Company, manufactures superior mechanical inserts, studs, compression limiters, installation tools and military standard bolts. AVK produces blind installed threaded fasteners for transportation and general industrial markets worldwide. We use state of the art high-speed cold forming equipment to produce blind installed threaded inserts and studs.

We feature product lines of both unified (INCH) and metric fasteners along with numerous special designs that meet customer application requirements. Housed in an 80,000 square-foot facility in the Valencia Industrial Center, AVK has been manufacturing high quality products for over 35 years.

AVK is currently seeking a full time Heading Machine Operator Level 2 to join our team.

Position Summary

Level Two: Level two heading machine operators work under minimal supervision to operate and perform basic setups of heading machines such as non-progressive cold headers and may begin to operate progressive headers including hot headers. Basic familiarity with progressive header tooling. This role requires intermediate competencies in print reading and inspection processes, as well as basic trouble shooting. 1-3 Years

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.

Adheres to quality processes including in-process inspection to ensure compliance with quality specifications.

Correctly interpret work orders

Reads blueprint or job order for product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, number of parts to be machined, and tooling instructions such as cutting speeds, feed rates and specific tools to be used.

Sets up machines for self and/or others to run jobs involving highest degrees of complexity

Positions and secures specified tooling and loads wire stock into feeding mechanism.

Sets cutting speeds and feed rates.

Starts machine, observes operation, and inspects first run and sample workpiece to ensure machining conforms to specifications.

Replaces worn tools.

Lift up to 35lbs

Work in a team environment, i.e. follow instructions and assist others as needed.

Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Required Skills

• The ability to read and write English.
• Intermediate print reading & inspection processes
• Basic familiarity of header tooling & equipment (Progressive & Non-Progressive)
• Basic knowledge of wire material & coatings
• Basic trouble shooting

Experience & Education

• Typically 1-3 Years of Experience
• GED or High school diploma preferred but not required
