Job Overview

We have an immediateneed for a Software Quality Engineering Specialist, in Huntsville AL.

This Software Quality Engineering position contributes to the development of embedded real-time control system software and/or application software by applying Software Quality Assurance principals to requirements analysis, design, implementation, unit test and integration activities. The ideal candidate would have had extensive experience in embedded and real-time software development utilizing the C/C++ programing language. This position will report to the Manager, Software Quality Assurance.

This position may be filled at this level or one level higher.

Essential Functions

Under direct supervision and following specific, detailed instructions or established procedures:

90% - As a Software Quality Engineer supporting a program(s) and a software development team, perform requirements analysis, design, implementation, unit test and integration of embedded real-time control system software and/or application software. Participate in the development of software development documentation. Support internal and customer reviews of software development work products and Software Quality Engineering activities.

10% - Support development of process improvement, including supporting CMMI internal and third-party assessments, and by assessing software process metrics, identifying process gaps, creating and evaluating process improvement options, reviewing and improving metric definition and collection methods, and promote the continued growth and maturity of the software organization.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science (CS), Computer Engineering, Math or equivalent with CS Emphasis (Computer Science Major preferred) and nine (9) years of experience in the Software Quality Engineering or software development disciplines.

Additional Qualifications

• Extensive auditing experienceto the requirements of CMMI 2.0 at a Level 3 or greater software processes preferred.
• Solid academic track record.
• Demonstrated team work experience.
• Solid verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a close-knit team environment.
• Highly motivated, with the ability to analyze, evaluate, and develop solutions to a variety of situations.
• ASQ CSQE certification desired.

May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Requires U.S. Citizenship. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
