Pine State Biscuits is looking for the right person to lead our kick-ass team. This is an incredible opportunity for an experienced, well-rounded restaurant pro to join a popular, independent restaurant in Downtown Reno.

Our Shop Leadership is responsible for overseeing the complete daily operations for a counter-service, open-kitchen restaurant. We are looking for candidates who are willing to work hands-on, and can take their job seriously while fostering a fun and dynamic workplace for staff and guests alike.

General Role:

Plan and direct all restaurant operations. Maintain high standards of food, service, health and safety, ensure the efficient and profitable business performance of the restaurant and the optimal utilization of staff and resources.


Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • set operating goals and objectives
  • assess staffing requirements and recruit staff when needed
  • train and coach staff
  • assist in implementing standard operating procedures
  • manage staff performance in accordance with established standards and procedures
  • ensure staff know and adhere to established codes of practice
  • create and manage staff schedules
  • maintain employee records
  • co-ordinate restaurant operations during each shift
  • monitor adherence to health, safety and hygiene standards in kitchen and restaurant
  • ensure all alcohol regulations are adhered to
  • oversee preparation of all food and beverage items
  • ensure adherence to all recipes
  • ensure quality of food and beverage presentation
  • interact with customers to ensure all inquiries and complaints are handled promptly
  • ensure cash management procedures are completed accurately
  • set and monitor budgets
  • analyze budget variances cost cutting measures
  • plan and monitor restaurant sales and revenue
  • prepare and analyze management reports
  • place and track orders with suppliers
  • schedule food and beverage deliveries
  • check quality of deliveries and documentation
  • ensure correct storage of supplies
  • oversee maintenance and repairs of equipment and services
  • grow and maintain relationships within local restaurant industry


Knowledge and Experience

  • previous experience in food and beverage management
  • in-depth working knowledge of food and beverage preparation and presentation
  • experience in staff management and development
  • knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices
  • experience in analyzing financial data
  • knowledge of planning and forecasting
  • track record of managing inventory and cost control
  • knowledge of administrative procedures
  • able to use relevant computer applications


Job duties include:

  • Willingness and competency to work all positions from baker to food runner so as to enable employee breaks, filling in on an emergency shift or supporting the efforts of the staff throughout the course of the day.
  • Communicating feedback with food, staff, customers and shop equipment using existing protocols.
  • Facilitating effective communication between the Operations team. and restaurant staff.
  • Upholding the highest standards of cleanliness before, during and after restaurant hours of operation.


Requirements for this position include:

  • Open availability
  • Previous restaurant hospitality experience in a high level management position, supervising a team of 10 or more staff
  • A willingness to give and receive constant feedback with all staff members and from all supervisors
  • Reliable transportation and a clean driving record
  • The ability to work comfortably and effectively on your feet, and safely lift up to 50lbs.
