About The Role

The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in the financial operations of MindPlay Education. This expansion role encompasses a broad range of accounting and financial duties, providing an excellent opportunity for a seasoned professional to make a significant impact. This is a hands-on role overseeing the month end close process, M&A integration and will serve as a primary contact for the annual audit. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do

• Oversee accounting operations, set goals and objectives, and design a plan for these to be met.
• Lead the preparation and delivery of transparent, accurate and timely financial results including financial statements, pro forma adjustments and MD&A.
• Provide leadership to attain a 5-day monthly close process as the company continues acquire and integrate acquisitions.
• Assist in ongoing improvements of Sage Intacct accounting system and build out of reporting functions.
• Serve as an agent of change for system improvements and technology automation.
• Analyze costs, pricing, sales results and the company’s actual performance compared to the business plans.
• Conduct variance analysis and provide detailed explanations for significant variances.
• Partner with VP of Finance on budgeting process.
• Act as a point of contact for external auditors and ensure compliance with all appropriate regulatory agencies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives and ensure alignment with financial goals.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
• Three to five years of accounting experience required. Private equity or growth-oriented experience a plus.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and other accounting principles.
• Experience with integrated financial systems, including: ERPs, AP, Payroll, and CRMs.
• Sage Intacct experience, preferred.
• External financial statement audit.
• Entrepreneurial and a detail-oriented individual that thrives in a fast-moving environment.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
