THE POSITION

Washington County Behavioral Health Division within Department of Health and Human Services is actively recruiting for an Addiction and Overdose Prevention Coordinator position to join our Addictions Program Team! This is an exciting opportunity to facilitate the collaborative work across Behavioral Health, Public Health, and Criminal Justice to decrease the harms from and misuse of substances in Washington County. This position will prioritize the coordination of overdose prevention and response efforts. About The Division

The Behavioral Health Division has broad responsibilities as the local Community Mental Health Program (CMHP) and as a delegate of our local Coordinated Care Organizations (CCO). The HIPAA Privacy and Security Coordinator will work in partnership with the Behavioral Health Division Quality Assurance Team and Supervisor in ongoing efforts to provide beneficial services and supports to the Behavioral Health Division and members of our community.

About The Opportunity

The Addiction and Overdose Prevention Coordinator facilitates cross-department collaboration and coordinates the strategic initiatives of the Washington County Addictions Workgroup. This position will collaborate with stakeholders and community partners across the tri-counties (Washington County, Multnomah County, and Clackamas County) and State of Oregon to assess system needs, align initiatives, identify available resources, and develop solutions to increase opportunities for recovery. This includes a focus on overseeing the overdose surveillance, prevention and response efforts, and information dissemination. This position will also manage projects and contracts that support the development and implementation of recovery and overdose prevention initiatives.

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in behavioral health with an in-depth understanding of overdose prevention, substance use disorders, and harm reduction with a credential in Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor II (CADC II). They will have commitment and dedication to serving people who use drugs, improving recovery services, and saving lives. We are looking for a skilled communicator who enjoys collaboration and working across systems to achieve goals and objectives. It is essential to have the ability to engage and build partnerships with stakeholders, providers, health plan organizations, and community partners with diverse perspectives. Additionally, they will have experience in strategic planning, project management, and in fiscal management. They will also be skilled at identifying and developing assets and strengths of community to implement effective solutions. Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to synthesize complex information, execute innovative tasks, and prioritize and meet timelines are highly desired.

Essential Job Duties

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Must hold one of the following qualifications to be considered.

  • Master’s degree in social services, clinical psychology, counseling, or related mental health field; AND five (5) years of work experience in mental health or addictions services. OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in social services, clinical psychology, counseling, or related mental health field with credentialing by the State of Oregon as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor II (CADC II); AND seven (7) years of work experience in mental health or addiction services.

Selection Process
