Duties

WHAT IS THE TAXPAYER SERVICES DIVISION? A description of the business units can be found at: https://www.jobs.irs.gov/about/who/business-divisions Vacancies will be filled in the following specialty areas: Taxpayer Services Customer Assistance, Relationship and Education - Distribution - National Distribution Center The following are the duties of this position. With assistance from a higher graded Clerk, performs a limited number of administrative tasks using an automated system which involves: assigning, maintaining, monitoring, or updating work status and inventory records; ordering research; acknowledging correspondence; maintaining, updating and initiating personnel records; timekeeping; and performing other support activity. Assists in identifying and reviewing Forms W-2 attached to Forms 1040EZ and 1040PC for conditions meeting Criminal Investigation criteria and code the returns appropriately. Assists in preparing and maintaining regular production/inventory reports using established formats and sources of data applicable to the program, functional, or organizational reporting requirements. Prepares special reports as directed. Conducts searches and other follow-up action on delayed shipments where acknowledged transmittals are not received timely. Transcribes and/or key verifies a wide variety of taxpayer prepared tax returns, related schedules, and/or documents.

Requiremennts

Must be a U.S. Citizen or National and provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. (Birth certificate showing birth in the U.S; Unexpired U.S. Passport; Certificate of Citizenship or Naturalization; or Report of Birth Abroad of a U.S. Citizen (Form FS-240)) Undergo a review of prior performance/conduct and an income tax verification. Refer to "Get Your Tax Record" at http://www.irs.gov/ (https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript) to check the status of your account, balance owed, payment history, make a payment, or review answers to tax questions. If you are not in compliance, you will be determined unsuitable for employment with IRS. This position requires that the successful candidate undergo personnel vetting, which includes a background investigation and enrollment upon onboarding into "Continuous Vetting." Enrollment in Continuous Vetting will result in automated record checks being conducted throughout one's employment with Treasury. The successful candidate will also be enrolled into FBI's Rap Back service, which will allow Treasury to receive notification from the FBI of criminal matters (e.g., arrests, charges, convictions) involving enrolled individuals in near real-time. Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency. Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. Qualifications

Federal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week, on your resume. You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement: BASIC REQUIREMENT: To qualify for this position at this grade level you must: Be at least 16 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED and have at least 6 months of general clerical related experience. This experience could have been progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular competencies needed to perform the duties of this position. This may be paid or non-paid experience. Completion of an intensive, specialized course of study of less than 1 year may meet in full the experience requirements for GS-03. Courses of this type normally require completion of up to 40 hours per week of instruction rather than the usual 20 hours per week and are usually of at least 3 months duration. Such courses may have been obtained through a variety of programs such as those offered by business or technical schools, and through military training programs. To be creditable, such a course must have been designed specifically as career preparation for the work of the position being filled and must have provided the applicant with the necessary competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to do the work. OR EDUCATION: One (1) year of education above the high school level in any field of study obtained from an accredited junior college, college, university, business, secretarial or technical school. This means at least thirty (30) college semester/ forty-five (45) college quarter hours of education or 20 hours of formal classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school equaling 720 hours. Completion of an intensive, specialized course of study of less than one (1) year may meet in full the experience requirements for GS-03. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: The equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total requirements. Education

A college or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. Tour of Duty: Day Shift, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m. or Monday - Friday, 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. In the event that a building is closed due to rent management, new hires may be placed in a local commuting location. Season is 8 to 10 months. Employees who work a seasonal work schedule are placed in non-pay status or recalled to duty as workload or budget dictates and in accordance with their seasonal employment agreement.
