Position: Civil Design Project Engineer (Civil 3D)

Are you a skilled Civil Engineer looking to take the next step in your career? Join our dynamic team, where you'll play a key role in the design and execution of civil projects using Civil 3D. We are looking for a motivated and experienced professional to lead site design efforts and collaborate across disciplines in a hybrid work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Civil 3D Expertise: Leverage your proficiency in Civil 3D to prepare and review contract documents, designs, and specifications for various civil projects.
  • Project Design & Management: Lead site design efforts, prepare design calculations, and oversee the project team. Handle project planning, budgeting, and task delegation to ensure timely and successful project completion.
  • Technical Deliverables: Develop technical proposals, cost estimates, plans, specifications, and reports. Perform engineering analyses and calculations both manually and with software tools.
  • Site Assessments: Evaluate the feasibility and soundness of proposed civil and site development features. Conduct periodic site visits and quality control reviews, ensuring construction meets project specifications.
  • Construction Coordination: Coordinate construction quality control services and review field reports. Ensure the use of appropriate construction materials and methods for optimal results.
  • Client Interaction & Presentations: Present project-specific and technical information to clients, technical organizations, and in-house staff, demonstrating a strong understanding of project scope and deliverables.
  • Hydrologic & Hydraulic Modeling: Utilize modeling software such as HEC-HMS, SWMM, Storm, and Sanitary Analysis for comprehensive project designs.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Provide leadership to junior staff, offering mentorship and overseeing their project contributions.
  • Project Administration: Handle project administration, including invoicing, collections, and quality assurance (QA/QC) reviews of work products.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Site/Civil Design from an accredited college or university.
  • Licensure: FE/EIT or PE registration (preferred). Must be able to attain professional registration in Michigan within 12 months if not already licensed.
  • Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in site development, including layout, grading, utilities, and pavement design. Previous consulting firm experience is preferred.
  • Leadership: At least 2 years of demonstrated experience mentoring and leading junior staff.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Civil 3D is required. Experience with Hydrologic and Hydraulic Modeling software such as HEC-HMS, SWMM, or others is a plus.
  • Soft Skills: Strong written and verbal communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple assignments and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Field Work: Must be comfortable working both in the office and on-site, with occasional non-standard hours. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and work in confined spaces once trained.
  • Driver’s License: Must hold a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel to project sites within Michigan.
  • Work Authorization: Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder.
