Turner Industries Group, LLC is looking for a Corporate Health and Safety Programs Assistant to join our S&H team in Baton Rouge, LA.

The HSE Programs Assistant is responsible for working within the Corporate HSE Department to assist with design, development, and implementation of environmental, health and safety databases, policies and programs. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, is self-driven and works well within cross-functional team environments. The ideal candidate also takes pride in his/her analytical abilities, organization skills and attention to detail. He/she appreciates a setting where superior work is encouraged, noticed, and rewarded.

Functional Requirements

  • Assist with the maintenance of Health and Safety databases including analyzing data and reporting on trends.
  • Upload and maintain relevant documents and certifications to third party evaluators (i.e., Avetta, ISNetworld) to show compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSEQ) requirements.
  • Assist with the maintenance of accurate and organized records of HSE-related documentation, including policies, procedures, training materials and incident reports.
  • Assist in the development and formatting of HSE documents, presentations, and reports as needed.
  • Ensure that HSE records are complete, up-to-date, and compliant with regulatory recordkeeping requirements.
  • Assist in drafting and distributing communications, announcements, and reminders regarding HSE initiatives, events, and requirements.
  • Act as a point of contact for updates to Corporate and Site specific HSE policies and procedures.
  • Assist with the maintenance of accurate information and advice on the Turner Health and Safety web page.

Qualification Standards

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in office administration, business, or a related field is a plus.
  • Previous experience in an administrative support role, preferably in a health, safety, or environmental context.
  • Prefer, but will not require, experience working with HSE compliance and management systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong proficiency in some Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel) but also in Google Workspace (Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Spreadsheets).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with HSE regulations, standards, and best practices is desirable but not required.

Work Conditions

Hours: Normal business hours 7:00-4:30 M-Th and 7:00-11:00 F.

Travel Required: Some local travel to jobsites may occur and sporadic away travel to group meetings and educational

conferences.

Working Environment: Climate controlled office environment during normal business hours.

Physical Involvement

Employee may be required to do the following: reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and machines; lifting from ground level, waist lever, and/or overhead; carrying objects, etc.; standing; sitting; walking; bending; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction.

Mental Involvement

Employee may be required to do the following; follow set procedures and standards; apply basic mathematical skills; follow oral/or written directions; plan work and select proper tools; compare and understand differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects; picture and evaluate solid objects from drawings or diagrams using standards that can be measured or checked; follow oral and/or written directions, plans and blueprints; reading; writing; ability to recognize and report safety hazards.
