Job Scope

The Director of Medical Education & Sales Education develops, implements and oversees administration of medical education and product training programs which provide essential Company product knowledge and general business operations skills to distributors, principals, agents and the Company’s field sales representatives. The Director also develops, implements and oversees administration of medical education programs which provide Acumed’s product users with information to ensure the safe and efficacious use of our products. The Director directs and oversees product training and medical education teams in the development and delivery of medical education programs which meet all compliance and/or regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies, develops, and delivers field product training and medical education for health care professionals, distributors, agents, and sales associates representing Acumed product lines. This includes management of cadaveric mobile education facilities.
  • Coordinates product-related education with Product Management for surgeons, sales representatives, and healthcare professionals that effectively prepare surgeons to use Acumed products safely and efficaciously.
  • Establishes/monitors standards and control systems for implementing and evaluating field training and medical education programs including the development of training program templates and models to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Drafts comprehensive yearly Field Training and Medical Education business plan and Needs Assessment aligned with Company’s overall business plan and strategic direction.
  • Collaborates with Product Management teams, identifies and assesses product training requirements and strategies.
  • Develops and maintains standard operating procedures related to conducting Acumed medical education.
  • Creates and drives performance metrics aligned with training strategy and department objectives.
  • Provides leadership, direction, and support to field training and medical education staff.
  • Evaluates performance of staff; provides constructive feedback on a regular basis.
  • Ensures the Marketing Materials Team is providing adequate marketing materials support.
  • Manages department budget allocations within Company guidelines. Provides direction regarding expense management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Learning and Development, Instructional Design, Marketing, Biology, Business or related field; advanced degree preferred
  • 5-10 years of Learning and Development/Training experience
  • 3-5 years of medical device sales or marketing experience, preferably in orthopedics
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully develop and deliver training programs
  • Excellent coaching and communication skills with ability to deliver innovative solutions and gain consensus through personal influence
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, presentation skills, project management, leadership, and team building skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
