THE POSITION

The Washington County Sheriff's Office Business Administration Division is looking for an experienced Accounting Assistant II to join our administrative team. The Business Administrative Division is responsible for budget planning and execution, payroll, contracts, grants, quartermaster, and various other administrative functions within the Sheriff's Office. This administrative support enables more than 600 employees of the Sheriff's Office to do their jobs in providing public safety services throughout Washington County.

The Accounting Assistant II primarily supports the Business Administration unit processing personnel actions, timekeeping, payroll processing, and payables. In this position, you will directly support more than 600 employees as a subject matter expert in personnel actions related to employee’s questions and in training of new hires. You will coordinate directly with County Finance and Human Resources Departments to ensure correct and timely submission of personnel actions. As part of a small administrative team, you will process invoices for payment and perform other administrative and accounting tasks as assigned.

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent; AND
  • One (1) year of general clerical experience including some financial record keeping.

Additional Licenses, Certificates, Physical Abilities and Specialty Requirements:

  • Some positions require a driver’s license valid in the State of Oregon and an acceptable driving record per Washington County policy.
  • Finalist will be required to pass an extensive background investigation conducted by the Sheriff's Office.

  • Start Date: A start date will be determined after all conditions of employment have been met.
