The YouVersion Director of Product Design is primarily responsible for leading a group of Product Designers to drive forward the overall vision and direction of existing and future products. This role collaborates directly with the Senior Creative Director design leadership, Principal Product Designers, and other senior leadership on overall product direction. This role leads a group of Product Designers to explain highly complex matters in a clear, understandable manner and ensure the smooth delivery of concepts in the design process. This role will work with senior product and design leadership to ensure Product Design objectives align with the YouVersion team and organizational efforts supporting the Life.Church mission.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of product designers and researchers to deliver high-quality design solutions.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive design strategy aligned with the company’s business objectives and product roadmap.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, Data, Content, and Partnerships to define product vision and strategy.
  • Oversee the entire design process, from concept to execution, ensuring a consistent and compelling user experience across all products.
  • Advocate for user-centered design principles and methodologies, incorporating user feedback and data-driven insights into design decisions.
  • Establish and maintain design standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure high-quality design output.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the design team.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and professional development opportunities to team members.
  • Build a diverse and inclusive design team, championing diversity of thought and background in all design practices.
  • Serve as a key liaison between the design team and other departments, ensuring alignment and effective communication of design initiatives and priorities.
  • Present design concepts, strategies, and progress to senior leadership and stakeholders, articulating the value of design to the business.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities for innovation.
  • Drive experimentation and A/B testing efforts to optimize user experiences and achieve business goals.
  • Measure and analyze the impact of design initiatives, using data to iterate and improve product designs.

Skills Needed To Succeed

  • Ability to self-motivate, make independent decisions, and solve problems with innovation.
  • Effective at multi-tasking and time management to meet strict deadlines while remaining flexible and open to change.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and oral communication skills to clearly explain complicated processes and foster partnerships.
  • Effective at process and organizational management to coordinate, structure, and provide vision to projects.
  • Strong leadership skills and understanding of developing and guiding others.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing expertise in UX/UI design, interaction design, and visual design.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in product design.
  • 3+ years of experience leadingdesign teams.
