Job Responsibilities
A bachelor’s degree in Engineering and five (5) years of engineering work experience. Necessary Special Requirement: Registration as a Professional Engineer by the South Carolina State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Surveyors.
The physical demands for the essential functions involves sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods of time. This position may require occasional travel. May require bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside normal business hours or respond to emergency situations.

Reviews preliminary, right of way and completed plans developed by safety design group and consultants for accuracy, and to ensure plans meet all applicable requirements. Coordinates safety design projects with other engineering disciplines to ensure plans meet all requirements as set forth by SCDOT and FHWA. Serves as primary contact for safety office for alternative intersection design consultation and review. Designs and prepares special drawings, special provisions as required. Signs and seals HSIP intersection improvement plans (Roundabouts, RCIs, etc.) as necessary. Attends and leads as necessary conferences and meetings with program managers and personnel from areas within SCDOT as required to complete project plans. Performs other related duties as assigned.
