Job Title: Cannabis Procurement Specialist (Manufacturing)

Salary Range: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour

Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Location: Purplebee’s | Pueblo, Colorado

Position Objective

The Cannabis Procurement Specialist leads the acquisition efforts of biomass supply for the PBS-CO extraction plant to ensure the optimal quality-cost outcome for the production of bulk cannabis oil and CPG products produced at the facility. Reports to the PBS-CO Plant Manager. Develops meaningful relationships with sales representatives and owners of regulated retail cannabis cultivation facilities. Coordinates with the Wholesale team on supply needs and aligns with production staff and leadership to ensure supply chain continuity. Monitors market prices for the varieties of raw materials and keeps current and accurate records. Inputs data into facility data systems. Coordinates with the Supply Chain Manager on any data needs on a routine basis, as requested. Coordinates with the Retail Procurement Team to ensure full alignment of activities at all times.

Essential Functions

Relationship Development and Management (70%)

  • Develops a complete list of potential raw materials suppliers throughout the regulated market.
  • Establishes and maintains current, direct and positive contact with all major cultivation suppliers.
  • Arranges for the purchase and delivery of a steady flow of raw material biomass supply to support the Wholesale bulk distillate demand from the PBS-CO facility.
  • Monitors in-coming quality metrics and follows them through finished goods inventory post-testing.
  • Resolves issues with suppliers as they arise and elevates them as necessary.
  • Maintains direct contact with the supervisors of the Processing and Logistics departments and communicates on the execution of assigned tasks and receives feedback on process improvement.
  • Communicates routinely with the Supply Chain Manager on data needs and provides inputs as requested.
  • Routinely visits supplier facilities and operations to evaluate their ability to perform as reliable vendor.
  • Coordinates efforts with the Product Development Technician and Director of Quality to ensure the highest raw material quality standards are maintained.
  • Supports management in the development of supply and forward agreements, as requested.
  • Supports coordination of delivery activities with the Logistics Supervisor.

Quality/Compliance/Safety (15%)

  • Maintains the highest standards of regulatory compliance in all aspects within following established guidelines and directives.
  • Observes the strictest adherence to quality and safety standards at all times, to include the wearing of required PPE following all Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Performs daily, weekly, and monthly routine equipment checks to ensure adequate cleaning and maintenance are being performed on systems used in the performance of assigned duties.
  • Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness within the assigned work center.

Administrative (15%)

  • Provide routine and timely reports to the Directors of Commercialization and Quality.
  • Provide support to the PBS-CO Plant Manager on special projects as assigned.

Education And Experience

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in regulated cannabis manufacturing operations or 2 years in other production operations with procurement experience.
  • Willingness to work in a production environment to include manual labor.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Able to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).

A Plus, But Not Required

  • Experience with demand planning, manufacturing resource planning and inventory management software.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least 2 years in the regulated cannabis industry.
  • Production experience with a regulated cultivation facility.

Working Conditions (Schedule, Environment, Travel)

  • Schedule will vary depending on the needs of the business (nights, weekends, and some holidays may be included).
  • Travel is possible to other Schwazze manufacturing facilities, but not likely or routine.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) badge in the state of Colorado.

$18 - $23 USD per hour
