Summary

The HR Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the Human Resources department and ensuring the smooth functioning of various HR activities. This position is responsible for handling day-to-day HR administrative duties, including payroll and benefit administration, to meet recurring deadlines as well as being responsible for effective records management. Additionally, the role involves assisting with recruitment, candidate and employee experience, onboarding and offboarding, employee development and learning management, and other HR-related processes.

Responsibilities

  • Recruitment Support:
    • Collaborate with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and develop job descriptions as well as assist with job posting creation and distribution on various platforms.
    • Coordinate interview logistics, including room reservations and interview panel availability.
    • Assist in conducting background checks and verifying candidate references as well as coordinate the onboarding process for new hires.
    • Maintain recruitment records, update applicant tracking system, and prepare reports.
  • Employee Relations:
    • Act as a point of contact for employees regarding HR-related inquiries, policies, and procedures.
    • Support employee disciplinary actions in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
    • Conduct exit interviews, process termination paperwork, and update relevant systems.
  • Training and Development:
    • Identify training needs within the organization and work with managers to develop training programs.
    • Coordinate and facilitate training sessions on various HR-related topics, including compliance, leadership, and professional development.
  • Performance Management:
    • Assist in the implementation and administration of the company's performance management system.
    • Support managers in conducting performance reviews and providing feedback to employees.
  • HR Compliance:
    • Stay updated with labor laws, regulations, and best practices to ensure Alpha's compliance with all HR-related legal requirements.
    • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure that personnel files are up-to-date and confidential.
  • Benefits and Compensation:
    • Administer employee benefits programs and respond to employee inquiries about benefits.
    • Assist in the annual compensation review process and participate in market research to ensure competitive salary structures.
    • Manage COBRA benefit administration for former employees.
  • Employee Engagement and Culture:
    • Promote a positive and inclusive company culture through various engagement initiatives.
    • Organize company events, team-building activities, and recognition programs to foster employee morale.
  • HR Reporting and Analytics:
    • Compile HR metrics and generate reports on a variety of employee lifecycle data.
    • Analyze trends and provide insights to management for strategic decision-making.
  • Payroll:
    • Process bi-monthly payroll
    • Process and track all garnishments and other payroll deductions.
    • Process and maintain the 401k deductions and reporting.
Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience as an HR Specialist or similar role.
  • Knowledge of HR practices, policies, and employment laws.
  • Proficient with HRIS/HCM and other HR software systems, to include MS Office.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field is a plus.

Certificates And Licenses

  • HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus.
