2024 Salary Range: $86,962.00-$134,435.00/Year (includes locality)

Posting Close: 8/23/2024In this position you will serve as a General Engineer in AFSC/ENRB, supporting Nondestructive Inspection (NDI) at Robins AFB.

Duties

The selected candidate will serve as a Level 3 Nondestructive Inspection (NDI) Engineer, for AFSC/ENRB at Robins AFB. The incumbent will:

  • Serves in a technical and advisory capacity in a multi-discipline environment supporting the NDI Program while providing experienced technical engineering service to develop/implement methods, processes, and equipment used in NDI methods.
  • Develops and sustains NDI operating procedures, calibration standards, best practices and technical specifications for various assets and ensures their compliance with governing directives.
  • Designs, develops and executes the modernization of NDI equipment, maintaining state-of-the-art, and routinely evaluates industry best practices to ensure ready and competent operations to the warfighter.
  • Resolves technical problems containing complex features that require incumbent to develop new and novel features in addition to improving and extending currently known techniques.
  • Applies a broad scope of scientific and engineering disciplines to the resolution of problems.
  • Provides scientific assistance including advising engineers and management on new methods and developments in the field.
  • Participates, briefs, and even instructs at NDI conferences/meetings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the area of Nondestructive Inspection for both briefings and written policy documents.
  • Accomplish AFSC/EN special projects, taskers, and suspenses related to NDI.
  • Represent the organization by engaging with other organizations, including functional counterparts, WR-ALC, AFLCMC, industry partners and academia to accomplish NDI goals.
  • Maintains liaison with other government organizations and contractors for the purpose of exchanging technical information and coordinating the design and execution of NDI projects.
  • Note: Periodic travel (TDY) is required

KSA's

  • Professional knowledge of engineering as demonstrated by a Bachelor’s of Science degree from an accredited college or university as a minimum.
  • Mastery of the advanced concepts, principles and practices in an S&E discipline (i.e. engineering, computer science, physical science, etc.) required to serve as technical authority.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of project management techniques, metrics, and experience in engineering project management.
  • Preferred: Expert level proficiency and certified NAS410 Level 3 in the 5 core AF recognized NDI methods: Eddy Current, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Ultrasound, and Radiography.

  • Obtain & maintain Security Clearance
  • This may be a designated Drug Testing Position
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical (if applicable)

Recruitment Knowledge Skills And Abilities

  • Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s) supervised and personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity/ Equal Employment Treatment, procedures, and policies related to records maintenance and documentation and the ability to screen shipping and receiving documents for discrepancies of items requiring preservation.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, illustrations, vehicle operating manuals, and technical specifications.
  • Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission.
  • Skill to perform a wide variety of standard and specialized packing/preserving techniques to include various protective/cushioning and bracing techniques to ensure preservation measures are effective.
