Genetic Counseling Assistant (GCA) Lead

The Genetic Counseling Assistant (GCA) Lead supports test utilization management efforts and resolves issues with test orders, focusing on high-level, urgent, or complex cases. They also coordinate special projects and assist with management of client-specific duties.

Shift: Tues-Sat, evenings required (at least until 6pm EST)

Essential Job Functions:

• Performs test utilization management (TUM) efforts, including both review of test orders at accession check and resolution of issues with client orders, focusing on high-level, urgent, or complex case-management duties such as prenatal sample types and rapid testing
• Coordinates special handling of cases from specific clients or as part of research agreements and/or processes raw data requests from clients
• Recognizes workflow issues and proposes solutions to increase efficiency and ensure provision of high quality service to GeneDx clients
• Provide basic client services, including provision of turn-around-time, specimen requirements, information about tests on hold and cancellations, etc as required while performing TUM
• Maintains knowledge of systems involved in test ordering and test setup, including the provider portal, Salesforce, OSCAR, XA, and LIMS
• Collaborates with the clinical team to write, review, and/or update relevant policies, forms, and SOPs
• Supports training for new employees and for current employees during implementation of updates and new features impacting complex cases
• Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned
• Undertakes diverse assignments with minimal supervision
  
  

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university. Preferred degree in Medical Technology, chemistry, biology, or related physical sciences.
• At least 1 year experience at GeneDx and/or another diagnostic laboratory.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  
  

Working Conditions:

• Duties may be performed remotely or in an office setting, at the discretion of the supervisor.
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• Traffic level in the work environment is usually high.
