We are seeking a Controller for a rapidly growing national hospice company with over 40 locations, across 24 states, and about 3,000 employees. The Controller will support our accounting team and oversee the financial operations of the hospice organization by ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective financial controls, and compliance with applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions
  • Review transactions, reconciliations, and manage the monthly close process
  • Prepare supporting schedules for monthly financial reporting to the Board
  • Perform financial analysis of monthly financial results
  • Monitor key performance indicators and obtain explanations for unusual trends
  • Manage financial audits, including coordinating with external auditors
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure the integrity of financial data
  • Possess a strong knowledge of US GAAP to ensure compliance
  • Create new as well as improve existing processes to improve financial efficiency
  • Implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance across all subsidiaries

Required Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required
  • CPA License or CPA candidate
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Minimum of 2 years in a leadership or controller role
  • Experience with software-based ERP accounting systems
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel


Preferred Education And Experience

  • A Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Accounting is a plus
  • Public accounting experience
  • Experience in the healthcare industry, particularly in hospice or home health care
  • Experience with multi-entity financial operations, including subsidiaries in different states
  • Experience with NetSuite ERP system
  • Experience managing personnel including conflict resolution and team projects
  • Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid regulations and hospice-specific financial guidelines
