Description

Robert Half has partnered with a Health Services company in Eastern North Carolina to assist them in finding a Director of Accounting. You must live in North Carolina for consideration. This role involves overseeing the daily operations of our accounting department, managing and supervising accounting staff, and ensuring accurate and timely financial management. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in governmental accounting and play a pivotal role in our organization's financial operations and strategic decision-making processes. Grant Accounting and supervisory experience are required, and a CPA is a plus. This is a remote role that offer outstanding benefits,

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the accounting department, including the design and implementation of an organizational structure that effectively achieves the department's goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the timely dissemination of financial management reports, including internal and external monthly financial statements.
  • Provide strategic input on decision-making issues affecting the organization as part of the senior management team.
  • Regularly review, streamline, and improve accounting systems and processes for maximum efficiency and transparency.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, investigating their findings and implementing their recommendations.
  • Supervise, train, and review the performance of the accounting staff.
  • Advise on the impact of new financial regulations, legislation, and guidelines in government accounting.
  • Ensure high attention to detail and accuracy in all accounting tasks.
  • Process customer credit applications accurately and efficiently, maintain accurate customer credit records, and monitor customer accounts for necessary action.
  • Prepare and present complex financial data in a clear and concise manner.

Requirements

  • Minimum of seven years of experience in accounting or a related field
  • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
  • Experience with Auditing
  • Familiarity with General Ledger management
  • Experience with Bank Reconciliations and Account Reconciliation
  • Knowledge of Grant Accounting and Fund Accounting
  • Ability to prepare Financial Statements
  • Experience with Consolidated Balance Sheet
  • Familiarity with Month End Close and Year End Closings
  • Ability to supervise and guide a team
  • Proven leadership and management skills
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (master's degree preferred)
  • Professional accounting certification, such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), is desirable.
