Description

Bollinger Motors is seeking an Industrial Engineer to improve efficiency, productivity, and overall performance at our contract manufacturing facility. This position reports to Industrial Engineering Manager. This is an in-person role at the company’s contract manufacturer in Livonia, MI, with travel to the company’s headquarters in Oak Park, MI

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with engineering and operations teams to identify production bottlenecks.
  • Delivering strategic inputs for manufacturing plans, labor targets, productivity improvements, operations strategy, and manufacturing readiness valuations
  • Examine and evaluate different systems on the plant floor such as manufacturing, delivery, and customer experience. Identify areas and present findings to improve said systems.
  • Collecting Data through observations, time studies, and surveys to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Conducting What-If Scenarios to evaluate staffing, capacity, and schedule requirements
  • Establishing methods for maximum utilization of facilities and personnel
  • Conducting studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, and the purchase/lease/maintenance of equipment.
  • Present findings, analysis and recommendations to management and stakeholders.
  • Designing processes, systems and enhancements that align with the overall plan and vision for the manufacturing site as well as improve productivity, efficiency and space.
  • Design layouts for product lines and redesign work areas to reduce repetitive motions and increase efficiency. Reduce waste, rework and cycle times.
  • Collaborating with various internal departments that include Program Management, Production Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Finance, and Operations to develop a world class manufacturing facility.
  • Developing and deploying a framework to sustain the utilization of lean concepts.

Requirements

Education, Skills and Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of Industrial Engineering experience in the automotive industry
  • Demonstrated experience with time/motion studies, development of standardized work and standard data.
  • Ability to apply strong principles and analytical techniques to continuously improve the manufacturing process.
  • Practical knowledge and understanding of traditional lean manufacturing systems.
  • Understanding of Low Volume manufacturing
  • Ability to interface with all levels of the organization from shop floor to management.
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Microsoft Office experience
