Technical Writer

Overview

CommIT Enterprises, Inc. is seeking a Technical Writer to join the team in Charleston, SC. The Technical Writer will work collaboratively with engineers to document technical processes for consistency across all types of project documentation. The Technical Writer is directly responsible for proper document versioning, regular documentation reviews, document publication, and for managing the project’s documentation repositories. This is a HYBRID role.

Established in 2001, CommIT is a Certified Veteran-Owned Small Business (CVOSB) providing innovative technical engineering and data science services. Our enterprise systems support includes the Department of Defense’s (DoD) GCSS-MC, CAC2S, TBMCS-MC, and the Department of Veteran’s Affairs’ (VA) telehealth communications. We offer acquisition management, systems engineering, Agile software development, cloud management, IT modernization, data analytics, cybersecurity, and training, including leading-edge DevSecOps, automated testing, and mobile application development.

Responsibilities

Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to-

• The Technical Writer provides writing, editing, versioning, publication, and documentation repository management services to the project.
• Collaborates with SMEs to advise on content outline and structuring and to assist with writing, revising, and editing technical documentation, including technical guides, analysis of alternatives, whitepapers, support documentation, and presentations.
• Collaborates with leadership, team members, and other departments to develop/implement special projects.
• Edits or rewrite content to maintain consistent styles and standards, and coordinates document signatures.
• Manages regular documentation reviews and updates, version control, and publication.
• Supports the complete documentation workflow process to ensure successful development and revision of technical publications.
• Supports the complete documentation life cycle process from creation to archiving or destruction.
• Maintains and manages documentation in the documentation repositories in Git and content management system.
  
  

Qualifications

Required Experience and Education:

• Associate’s degree or High School Diploma or GED. 
• One (1) year with degree or three (3) years with HS/GED of experience revising or writing standardized material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications concerned with work methods and procedures, and installation, operation, and maintenance of machinery and other equipment.
• Working knowledge of cloud technologies or other networking systems.
• Proficiency with authoring tools and technologies, including Office 365 tools, content management systems, Markdown, and Git.
• Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and align on priorities with stakeholders.
