Summary

Prepares and assists in painting, striping layout and details of aircraft under close supervision according to company quality standards and operating procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Safely performs aircraft preparation for painting in accordance with current technical data required in the manufacturers’ instructions for continued airworthiness, government and industry standard practices, and other data acceptable to or approved by the FAA.
  • Follows standard operating procedures when using tools and equipment such as dual action sanders, hydraulic lift platforms and paint sprayers.
  • Properly cares for and maintains shop equipment and tools.
  • Follows standard operating procedures when using sealants, paint strippers and corrosion-preventive chemicals and uses proper protective equipment as required.
  • Complies with safety rules and procedures and remains alert, addressing unsafe conditions with management before putting people or property at risk.
  • Conserves material assigned to each task and helps to eliminate waste through proper handling and storage.
  • Assists with aircraft movement in hangars.
  • Complies with Paint Shop standard practices and processes.
  • Offers continuous improvement ideas and participates in continuous improvement activities.
  • Understands the impact of budget hours to schedule and next phase requirements.
  • Follows process improvements and eliminates non-value added activity.
  • Follows product specifications and hazardous material guidelines.
  • Understands the procedure for obtaining hazardous material safety data sheets.
  • Maintains regular attendance including being at work, being on time to work and working full shifts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Summary of Education, Experience & Certification

High school diploma or equivalent and one year of aviation industry experience preferred. Additional experience may be substituted for education.

Employees working on programs subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations must qualify as a US Person which is defined as a US Citizen, a Permanent Resident who does not work for a foreign company/foreign government/foreign governmental agency or organization, or a political asylee for legal compliance purposes.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to communicate in English (read, write and verbally communicate).
  • Display good communication skills.
  • Ability to select and work with proper tools for job task.
  • Mathematical knowledge and ability to apply towards problem solving.
  • Exhibits hand-eye coordination skills.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to comply with DOT/FAA Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.
  • Able to climb and work on step stools and/or ladders.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. without assistance/able to lift up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
  • Able to reach overhead.
  • Able to work in a non-dust-free environment.
  • Normal or corrected vision (required to perform exacting tasks).
  • Full range of motion with both hands.
  • Can work in a stooping, kneeling or standing position and in cramped areas.

The expected WA salary range for this position is between $45,760.00 - $52,459.00 USD. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, education, location, and other factors permitted by law.
