Job Posting Position Overview: The Area Manager (AM) is responsible for ensuring reliable and accurate inventory counts in support of and at the direction of the District Manager. This role plans, maps out and executes inventory events, to ensure exceptional Service to our customers. The AM assists and supports the training and development of all District Employees in order to build productivity within the district. As part of building a strong bench of leadership within the District, the AM will act as the Manager on Duty when the District Manager is away from work. The AM plays a critical role in the retention and stability of our hourly workforce—living the example of our SPIRIT values. The AM will be responsible to train, develop and mentor the Inventory Supervisors who report directly to them, fostering a strong and engaged team environment. A successful AM must assist in the ownership of delivering an exceptional final product to the customer while being an active participant in the positive financial performance of the District. Essential Responsibilities: Builds high performing teams by identifying top talent, providing training, feedback and ongoing development of Inventory Supervisors (with a significant focus on New and Level 1 Inventory Supervisors) as well as all Inventory Associates Leads by example at all times; ensures all associates are demonstrating our SPIRIT values at all times Leads on-site inventories at various customer locations, utilizing standardized processes to achieve operational excellence (accuracy, productivity, efficiency, on-time completion, etc.) Demonstrates safe behaviors at all times and ensures the safety of all members of the team Successfully completes all inventory pre-planning tasks to ensure operational excellence Manages inventory flow plans, effectively directs and guides Inventory Associates and Inventory Supervisors during the inventory process Assists with the planning and execution of District travel and equipment logistics Assists with the development, training, onboarding, and retention of all employees Exhibits exemplary customer service, including but not limited to, professional and timely communication, sense of urgency, and ensuring operational excellence Maintains positive relationships with customers, employees, and businesses alike, always enhancing our reputation in the marketplace Conducts pre-inventory visits (PIV) with customer management and logistics review site visits In order to foster strong work/life balance across the district, the AM will work scheduled Manager on Duty shifts as requested by the District Manager or Regional Director. Demonstrates success as a Manager on Duty (MOD) with responsibilities ranging from scheduling, performance management, logistics, equipment management, working with Key Account Management and more Supports District and Regional Leadership in additional tasks that include, but are not limited to: driver certification, training, equipment acquisition, vehicle maintenance, etc. Required Qualifications & Skills: Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education in lieu of degree A minimum of three (3) years of experience in an Inventory role, or similar retail position, that exhibits professionalism, sense of urgency, soft skills, leadership and ability to lead others Exhibits strong work-ethic while focusing on team-oriented goals and collaboration in a fast-paced environment Strong people and team leadership skills with a proven track record of recruiting, hiring, and developing talent for future bench strength Strong motivation to be successful in honoring all commitments to our customers and employees, through excellent service and conflict resolution skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong time-management skills Ability to work flexible schedules with varying hours in support of the District and customer commitments and in various environments such as warehouses, outside industries, etc. Must be willing to submit to a pre-employment investigative consumer report, pre-employment drug screening and/or MVR check A valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and/or meeting the Fleet driver requirements may be required depending on the District or Region needs Working Conditions: This position requires frequent travel via automobile and plane. Must have the ability to adapt to changing working conditions, such as standing and sitting for long periods of time, as well as frequent walking. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Must be able to work 10-12 hour shifts regularly.
