Staff Accountant

Description

We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team based in ELYRIA, Ohio, 44035-6285, United States. This role involves a range of responsibilities in the service industry, including inventory management, sales tax calculations, freight cost accounting, and the preparation of financial statements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage inventory analysis and cycles
• Responsible for the calculation and return of sales tax and monthly sales tax
• Handle freight bills and freight costs
• Assist in the month-end close process and prepare journal entries in systems including QuickBooks and NetSuite
• Prepare financial statements and ensure their accuracy
• Implement process improvements to increase efficiency
• Learn and apply standard costing in the manufacturing industry
• Handle general ledger accounting and ensure all entries are accurate.

Requirements

• Must have at least 2 years of experience in a similar role as a Staff Accountant within the Service industry.
• Proficiency in General Ledger and Journal Entries is required.
• Experience with Month End Close procedures is necessary.
• Must have practical knowledge of accounting software such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, and SAP.
• Experience in Inventory Analysis and understanding of Inventory Cycles is preferred.
• Familiarity with Sales Tax, Sales Tax Returns, and Monthly Sales Tax is expected.
• Knowledge in handling Freight Bill and Freight Costs is beneficial.
• Experience in Financial Statement Preparation is necessary.
• Must have a proven track record in Process Improvement.
• Proficiency in Standard Cost Accounting and Standard Costing is required.
• Experience in Annual Standard Cost is beneficial.
• Must have the right to work in the location of the job.
• Must have a high degree of professionalism and the ability to work in a team environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Must have the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail are necessary.
• Must have strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and manage financial data.
• Familiarity with local, state, and federal tax regulations is beneficial.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
