In the plan to create a new hub for mRNA-based vaccine discovery in Cambridge, we are building new laboratories that will be focused on the development of state-of-the-art methods that will be supporting deep product understanding, process and product development, as well as testing of pre-clinical and clinical samples for new mRNA-based vaccines.

As an Associate Scientist, you will be expected to join Molecular Biology group, Viral Vaccines and contribute to generating and characterizing vaccine and monoclonal antibodies candidates. This group is also responsible for implementing new techniques and technology to improve high-throughput generation and screening of monoclonal antibodies and vaccine candidates, including next-generation sequencing, high-throughput cloning and cell-based characterization.

We are looking for a highly motivated scientist, with proven record in utilizing the most up to date molecular biology and cell biology techniques in a high-throughput environment, to take a leading role in developing and running high-throughput systems that can support monoclonal antibody and vaccine projects

Key Responsibilities:


  • To support expertise in the areas of DNA cloning, in-vitro RNA transcription and cell-based assay characterization of vaccine and antibody candidates
  • Assist in high-throughput workflows for molecular biology and cell biology processes to generate and characterize vaccine and antibodies candidates
  • Participate in experimental planning by applying critical thinking, experience and scientific knowledge to the data analysis.
  • Possesses strong scientific leadership and communication skills to enable collaboration with key scientific internal and external stakeholders.


The successful applicant will spend 2-6 months within the first year in Rockville, MD to support and guarantee a smooth transition of methods and know-how to the new laboratories in Cambridge, MA.

Basic Qualifications:


  • Degree in Molecular and Cell Biology, Virology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related scientific field.
  • MS with 1+ years of experience, or BS with 3+ years of experience.
  • One or more years of cell culture expertise : cell lines and/or primary cells
  • One more of years of experience in cell-based assays using flow cytometry and microscopy
  • One more years of experience in molecular biology : cloning, handling DNA


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Familiar in handling RNA and running in vitro transcription reactions
  • Experience in cell-based assays to evaluate Lipid Nanoparticle formulated RNA
  • Familiar with common molecular biology software e.g. Geneious
