Job Responsibilities of the Admissions Coordinator:

Coordinates the admission process from pre-admission through admission.

Performs any and all tasks involved in the admission of residents from any source.

Provides support to the Admissions Director, assisting with inquiries, tours and admission paperwork. Participates in marketing as directed

Provides current information on all pending and scheduled admissions to appropriate departments.

Works closely with the nursing department and the central supply staff to ensure all necessary care equipment is available for new residents prior to arrival.

Obtains necessary insurance approvals for all extraordinary care needs prior to resident arriving.

Communicates effectively with facility staff, community, and medical providers.

Provides the resident with welcome and basic information.

Provides all necessary documentation from referring source to nursing and Business Office Manager to initiate care and accounting process.

Maintains the census system to be accurate within the last 24 hours. Maintains a current roster of residents by room per state and federal requirements.

Demonstrates the ability to meet the ever-changing needs of the residents, families and the facility, as well as the community at large.

Maintains a professional appearance and approach to all interactions in person or by phone.

Demonstrates the ability to provide respect and dignity for each resident and staff member, as well as community.

Qualifications of the Admissions Coordinator:

Has worked in a medical/health care setting - preferably in a skilled nursing center.

High school diploma or GED

Knowledge of medical terminology.

The ability to read, write and speak English. Knowledge of other languages helpful.

Strong organizational skills; Strong oral and written communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to function independently and strong leadership.
