Overview

The VP of Commercial Lines supervises an assigned team of account executives, team leaders and support staff while servicing an existing book of business.

In this role, you will frequently interact with and maintain strong relationships with client and carrier representatives. You will also manage a book of business consisting of middle market and larger accounts, including complex accounts with large premiums and multifaceted coverages.

What You'll Do

  • Manage a book of business, ensuring customer satisfaction and acting with a sense of urgency and commitment to excellence.
  • Strategically collaborate with producers, marketing staff, and service teams on new business opportunities and renewals .
  • Monitor employee workload capacity, p articipates in staff hiring and termination decisions.
  • Assist with coaching and developing employees , i dentif ying additional training opportunities as needed.
  • Assist staff with complex negotiations and handling difficult client situations .
  • Provide bi-weekly update of upcoming renewals to agency leadership team.
  • Assist the Senior Vice President in conducting internal a ccount a udits .
  • Conduct timely , thoughtful, and effective performance reviews of assigned service team, and r ecommend employee compensation changes .
  • Develop and maintain marketing and underwriting relationships with insurance carriers/wholesalers .
  • Lead and participate in key projects intended to improve efficiency, compliance, and effectiveness.
  • Promote knowledge sharing among employees to address issues involving markets, products, and compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned .

What You'll Need

  • Advanced degree from college or technical school; or 10+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Property and Casualty License
  • Professional designations are strongly preferred
  • Can negotiate with carriers regarding pricing and with terms and conditions
  • 10+ years of experience in commercial property and casualty insurance with 10+ years of experience of independently managing a book at an insurance agency
  • Tech savvy; ability to navigate multiple systems including Agency Management Software; intermediate skills in Microsoft Office products
  • Professional designations preferred
