Summary:
The Research Associate II position will have opportunities to cross train and support other groups such as Screening, Analytical Chemistry, Sequencing, and Strain Banking. The successful candidate will be a team player who works within the group to meet department goals, objectives, and tasks to achieve desired results.

The employee is frequently required to bend, stand, walk, sit, and use hands to manipulate, handle or feel items (i.e.: lab instruments). The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs of weight and use a ladder. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
The employee frequently is required to sit in a lab chair, and/or stand at a lab bench and be mobile. The employee needs both hands to work with small lab instruments.

Summary:

Responsibilities:
- Prepare media and reagent stocks with sterile technique following existing SOPs documenting each preparation for batch information.
- Assist in lab management services such as media preparation, inventory, and shipping & receiving activities.
- Manage consumables and glassware needed for reagent preparation including cleaning and autoclaving glassware and managing raw material stocks.
- Utilize laboratory equipment to dispense, seal, barcode, and/or label stocks for routine use.
- Perform routine laboratory support tasks, such as lab organization, clean-up, equipment maintenance and run preparation, maintaining records etc.
- Respond to new requests with appropriate urgency and an organized approach.
- Ability to be cross trained on other laboratory workflows and support other teams as needed.
- Provide routine updates to the Supervisor on progress, status, and issues associated with assigned tasks.
- Utilize time wisely to maximize productivity.
- Follow safety guidelines as required for your area.
Qualification/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in scientific discipline or associate degree from a laboratory science or biotechnology program will be considered.
- Prior experience working in a laboratory setting, academic coursework may be considered.
- Lab experiences demonstrating sterile technique.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to adhere to SOPs.
- Ability to document and maintain records of work.
- Ability to work individually or collaboratively.
- Previous startup experience
- 1+ year of industry experience
- Previous synthetic biology experience
- Previous sterile media preparation experience
- Previous inventory control experience
- Previous automation and/or analytical instrumentation experience
- Previous NGS experience
