The Riverside County Sheriff's Office is seeking a qualified Aircraft Mechanic in Hemet. Under general supervision, the Aircraft Mechanic maintains turbine helicopters and fixed wing aircraft within the Sheriff's Aviation Unit; and performs other related duties as required.
The Aircraft Mechanic is a non-sworn journey level classification assigned to the Sheriff's Aviation Unit and reports to a supervisory or manager level position. Incumbents maintain and repair American Eurocopter AS350, Pilatus PC-12, as well as other fixed wing aircraft, in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Regulations and manufacturers' specifications.
Incumbents may be assigned to the Sheriff's Aviation facility located in Thermal on a permanent or rotational basis.

• Maintain and repair American Eurocopter AS350, Pilatus PC-12, as well as other fixed wing aircraft ; conduct pre-flight and post-flight aircraft inspections to ensure airworthiness and compliance with FAA Regulations.
• Diagnose, evaluate, and record aircraft maintenance problems, and report the same to supervisor as necessary; maintain parts inventory and order parts through a computerized inventory system.
• Repair airframe and fabrication in both composite and sheet metal airframe components.
• Perform cleaning, servicing, and major and minor aircraft repairs and modifications; test engines and electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems using gauges and other testing equipment.
• Adjust, replace, repair, and install any components required for proper aircraft maintenance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSExperience: One year in the maintenance and repair of turbine helicopters and fixed wing aircraft. Experience with American Eurocopter AS350, Pilatus PC-12, and the Pratt & Whitney PT6 powerplant preferred.
Knowledge of: FAA Regulations governing the maintenance of turbine helicopter and a variety of fixed wing aircraft; inventory control; computer systems typical of parts ordering; recordkeeping and reporting procedures.
Ability to: Test, diagnose, repair, airframes and hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and fuel systems; communicate effectively in written and oral form; maintain a variety of shop and service records.
Other Requirements
License/Certificate: Possession of a valid California Driver's License throughout employment.
Possession of a valid Airframe and Powerplant Mechanics (A&P) Certificate issued by the FAA.
Within 30 days of hire, mechanics are required to furnish the necessary standard and metric hand tools required to perform the essential duties of the position.
