DUTIES: LSLI has partnered with the Community Service Society (CSS) to provide legal services with an initiative called the Education Debt Consumer Assistance Program (EDCAP). EDCAP is focused on helping consumers navigate their student loan debt.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Duties entail community education regarding student loan repayment, counseling borrowers, and assisting the Supervising Attorney with student debt litigation matters. This will include providing over the phone, remote video conferencing and in-person assistance to individuals who need help with higher education debt, including selecting an appropriate repayment plan, loan consolidation, applying for forgiveness and discharge programs, avoiding, or getting out of default, and much more; Provide trainings and presentations to consumers and advocates, as needed; Prepare training materials and fact sheets. Paralegal is responsible for maintaining required case files, client data and all statistical information as required.
START DATE: Immediate. SALARY: $43,558-$53,058 DOE, union scale, BENEFITSMedical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Long Term Disability (100% of the premium covered by employer), 403b with defined contribution.
REQUIREMENTSLSLI is looking for a paralegal who is committed to public service and has a background or interest in issues related to higher education debt, debt management or financial counseling. Demonstrated commitment to the goals and clients of the legal services program.
