The Interfaith Nutrition Network, Inc. (The INN) is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization located in Hempstead, NY, addressing hunger and homelessness on Long Island for over 40 years. The INN operates the Mary Brennan INN, Long Island’s largest soup kitchen, and the Center for Transformative Change, an innovative service center that works directly with individuals challenged by joblessness and homelessness. In addition, The INN operates Emergency Homeless Shelters and various housing programs that help address Long Island’s housing crisis. We are currently involved in program expansion activities aimed at assisting the community to access both employment training and health care services.
The Assistant Manager at Mary Brennan INN has a versatile role, serving as a general manager and problem-solver for the Soup Kitchen. This position also supports the Volunteer Department, the Clothing Boutique, and Warehouse Operations in the absence of their respective managers and directors. The Assistant Manager's role extends to troubleshooting and supporting the service areas/operations of the departments, making it a unique and dynamic opportunity.

Some Other Duties Include
- Serves as a key member of the MBI Management Team, contributing to the strategic direction and daily operations of the organization.
- Participate in developing/establishing and implementing MBI's strategic plans per The INN goals and mission.
- Assist in creating and maintaining the annual operations budget for the MBI soup kitchen.
- Prepares and serves hot, nutritious, delicious meals each day.
- Accepting, sorting, utilizing, and distributing donated food and other items in an organized and cost-efficient manner, ensuring that all resources are used effectively to serve our community.
- Treating the MBI guests with the utmost dignity and respect is a core value of our organization.
- Responsible for assisting guests who are homeless or in need of emergency food or other services to access CTC resources to meet these basic needs.
- Maintain relationships with donors and volunteers.
- Purchase food and paper products that work efficiently at the most affordable price.
- Ensure adherence to the agency's philosophy by the volunteers.
- Support all shelters in coordinating all the necessary items needed to re-stock their facilities.
- Bachelor's Degree or one to two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- License/Registration requirements: None
- Training and Additional Certifications: Food Handling Certification
- New York State Driver's License (REQUIRED)
- BilingualEnglish/Spanish
- Sexual Harassment Training for Mandated Reporters
- Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and other databases and programs
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
