Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners are a critical part of a multidisciplinary team and possess unique expertise and a focus on providing quality behavioral health care to acute populations. You will be part of a dedicated team responsible for assisting various patients by evaluating medical and psychosocial conditions and overseeing the development and implementation of treatment plans. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to take care of the mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders of patients engaged in services.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

  • Provide evidence-based evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients including prescribing medications and/or other psychotherapeutic interventions
  • Provide treatment either independently or with physician supervision in accordance with Massachusetts regulations
  • Develop treatment plans, measure progress against the plans, and make adjustments as needed
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed
  • Complete all necessary clinical documentation in an accurate and timely manner
  • Collaborate with a broader team of physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists, and occupational therapists to assess and adjust treatment plans
  • Coordinate and communicate with case managers, family members and other stakeholders regarding treatment and care
  • Participate in the teaching of students and other trainees
  • Participate in departmental and organizational quality improvement programs


Job Requirements

Education:

  • Masters Degree from a Nurse Practitioner education program (with specialization in mental health) accredited by a Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing-recognized national accreditation body


Experience:

  • Two years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner


Licensure:

  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • Current valid DEA certificate and MA Controlled Substances certificate or eligibility
  • Buprenorphine waiver required or willingness to acquire a waiver


Certification

  • Current advanced practice certification by Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing- approved nationally recognized certifying body


Other Requirements:

  • No Medicare or Medicaid sanctions
