Job Description

HealthPartners is currently hiring for a Vice President, Product and Sales Effectiveness. This position is responsible for leading, developing, and executing the direction of product strategy and market innovation, broker operations, and sales operations. Through a comprehensive understanding of the health care market, the Vice President will define product visions, set product roadmaps, and lead teams to deliver products that leverage our networks to best meet customer needs, drive strategic business growth, and navigate regulatory, competitor and changing market dynamics.

The Vice President is a key strategy leader in support of teams that develop, market, and sell HealthPartners products based in our five-state footprint (MN, WI, IA, ND, SD) and offered nationally; this includes managing leaders that oversee sales operations and broker operations teams that support them. This role aligns and collaborates with executive leadership and peers to define a multi-year vision and path for success and enables effective coordination across the organization.

HealthPartners seeks a seasoned executive with healthcare/health insurance leadership experience. They should have experience in creating, executing, and delivering upon product/sales strategies, ideally within a large, highly matrixed organization. A record of driving transformational change, leading teams, developing talent, and building relationships is required. Additionally, the ability to flex leadership styles to accommodate a wide range of stakeholder interests is necessary. The ideal candidate will have extraordinary vision and relational skills, combined with experience building and developing strategies that have supported the advancement of product viability and market share initiatives.

The Vice President must be an involved leader, who can build trust and influence a wide variety of stakeholder groups. Critical to this role’s success will be this leader’s ability to build relationships across all levels of individual contributors and leadership. This is a new opportunity available within the HealthPartners Health Plan sales group and will lead a team of three (3) direct reports with total accountability of thirty (30) staff members.

Required Qualifications

  • College degree or equivalent in marketing/sales, managed care related field and/or equivalent years of related experience.
  • 10 years of experience in healthcare/health insurance product and sales strategy and execution/solution delivery
  • 10 years of experience with deep breadth and depth of business knowledge across relevant functions (product, marketing, sales, etc.) in healthcare or similarly regulated product industry
  • 7 years in a leadership role, with demonstrated ability to work in a matrixed organizational environment.
  • Record of driving transformational change, leading teams, developing talent, and building relationships.
  • Demonstrated strong comprehensive management, leadership, and executive skills.
  • Prior experience analyzing and applying a broad organizational and business perspective to identify and maintain focus on key drivers of organizational performance to maintain product viability and market share.
  • Thorough knowledge of insurance, healthcare, insurance administration, marketing, strategic planning, fiscal management, reimbursement, and operations in health care markets.
  • Strong understanding of market trends/needs, business requirements and balance them successfully.
  • Ability to directly and successfully lead, mentor and develop a talented team of high-performing individuals in a fast-paced environment.

  • Skilled at cross-functional coordination and prioritization/decision making.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Product Management/Design, Healthcare Management, or related field
  • Experience managing complex initiatives in the consulting, healthcare, or insurance industry.

  • HealthPartners Bloomington campus located at 8170 33 rd Avenue South.

Responsibilities

  • (20%) - Develop an integrated product strategy that leverages our network and aligns with the organizational goals and direction. Working across functions, develop a clear multi-year product strategy and product roadmaps across existing portfolio and new opportunities. Align and collaborate closely with senior leaders and key partners/teams to define vision and path for success and enable highly effective coordination across the organization.
  • (20%) –Drives product innovation and development. Actively monitors developments in the market and pilots, tests, evaluates, and implements new product innovations. Anticipates market or regulatory changes and effectively adapts strategies and plans to meet those needs.
  • (20%) – Product design and implementation oversight. Leads the team responsible for collaborating with various organizational partners and teams on the delivery of the product roadmap through the development, maintenance, and implementation of a robust portfolio of products, which meet the needs of different market segments. Additionally collaborating with actuary and the market leads to support pricing strategies.
  • (15%) – Strategy leader for sales operations effectiveness and competitive intelligence, leading a team that enables sales colleagues to be highly equipped and successful in their roles, and optimally efficient in sales processes and performance measures. Includes broker partnerships and optimal administrative support for the sales and product teams.
  • (15%) – Key leader of cross functional teams necessary for the success of the product roadmap and sales effectiveness.
  • (10%) – Develops and defines product performance measures and insights, partners with other internal market and data insights experts, and uses data to inform product strategies, roadmaps, priorities, and changes.
