This program specialist level public health consultant holds the administrative responsibility for the Child and Adolescent Health Centers and Programs (CAHCPs) which includes budget development, program planning, policy and procedure development, technical assistance, evaluation and contract monitoring. This position directs the provision of consultation to approximately 100 CAHCPs throughout the state. This position acts as a statewide resources for the Unit and Section in the area of access to care and health services for children and adolescents. This position serves as the lead worker representing a team of consultants working with the CAHCPs and is responsible for assuring high quality technical assistance is provided to this program. Completion of position responsibilities requires a high degree of complex specialized public health knowledge and expertise, as well as high levels of skill in policy and procedure development, quality improvement and evaluation. This position performs the full range of advanced professional public health activities using the laws, regulations, rules and policies & procedures for CAHCPs. This employee must exercise independent judgment in selecting a proper course of action in decision making. Responsibilities include: 1) provides consultation and technical assistance to clinical child & adolescent health centers and performs local program monitoring and evaluation; 2) analyzes and interprets health and program data and statistics, applying findings to program, guidelines and protocol development; 3) participates in internal and external committees and work groups that focus on child and adolescent health issues, and 4) oversees and develops training schedule for state-funded CAHCPs.

Required Education And Experience
Education
Possession of a master's degree in public health, health communication, health policy or a public health-related field such as nursing, epidemiology, health education, health economics, dietetics/nutrition management, genetics, or speech and audiology; a master's degree in social work; master's degree in counseling; master's degree in special education with specialization in blind/visual disabilities; or a master's degree in public or business administration with a health care concentration.
Experience
Four years of professional, post-master's experience as a consultant in a field of public health equivalent to a Public Health Consultant, including two years equivalent to a Public Health Consultant P11 or one year equivalent to a Public Health Consultant 12.
Additional Requirements And Information
Position Location/Remote Office: The physical location for this position is 320 S. Walnut St, LANSING, MI 48913. Based on operational needs and within established limits, remote work and alternate or hybrid work schedule requests for this position may be considered.
Selected candidates who have been approved to work remotely or a hybrid schedule must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.
As a Condition of Employment: this position requires successful completion of a background investigation and a criminal records check.
