Under the direction of the System Director Strategic Growth, this is a front line sales role, responsible for increasing service line volume by educating the provider community on new programs, services and technologies offered by PIH Health. The Representative will be responsible for sales planning and day-to-day sales management of their assigned customer base. The Representative will develop the physician referral base in assigned territory for the purpose of presenting IDS service lines and fostering referral relationships.

In addition, the Representative will

• Identify, initiate and maintain contact with targeted referral sources.
  
  

Manage prospect list and territory database for highest impact and to meet assigned goals.

• Make face-to-face contacts and presentations to all current referring physicians and potential prospects
• Plans and coordinate continuing medical education events (CME’s), community presentations, and a wide range of other education programming as assigned.
• Interpret current physician referral patterns utilizing existing reporting tools and market intelligence to assess opportunities for strategic growth within the network.
• Coordinate and manage regular meetings with leadership team to review data and discuss current and future growth strategy.
• Create an annual strategic referral development plan for each project/service line in conjunction with medical group and service line leaders.
• Works with the Marketing Communications team and others to identify tools and tactics to support referral development goals.
  
  

Additional responsibilities may include:

• Support the expansion of FQHC contractual partnerships with PIH Health IDS
• Maintain referral relationships with contracted/ shared risk Medical Groups
• Plan and manage Medicare AEP open enrollment programs
• Manage the IPA network including supporting providers, updating and educating staff on new policies and contract terms

Required Skills

Must have a strong understanding of the basic principles of business and referral development, hospital/clinical marketing and sales and the operation of physician offices and referral practices, Clinical background beneficial. Must have the ability to establish and maintain relationships with physicians and physician office staffs to gain trust and understanding in an effort to increase referral to IDS services. Demonstrated ability to develop referral development plans and successfully manage multiple projects, territory and customers simultaneously. Possess confidence and comfort speaking with physicians and other executives about opportunities, excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong public presentation and interpersonal skills.

Required Experience

Required: Bachelor’s degree in relevant area of study preferred; Experience working in a multi-hospital health system, IPA, medical group, outpatient clinical center. Five (5) years progressively responsible experience in healthcare business development and sales. Preferred: Master’s Degree in Healthcare or Business Administration. Maintain a current California Driver’s license and proof of insurance
