Responsibilities
As a Founding Robotics Engineer at Azalea Robotics, you will play a crucial role in advancing our motion planning and control capabilities. Based in our main office in Berkeley, CA, you will lead the development of state-of-the-art algorithms and systems for trajectory generation, path planning, and dynamic control of our robotic platforms. Candidates should have a strong background in robotics, control theory, optimization, and system dynamics. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

As a Founding Robotics Engineer at Azalea Robotics, you will play a crucial role in advancing our motion planning and control capabilities. Based in our main office in Berkeley, CA, you will lead the development of state-of-the-art algorithms and systems for trajectory generation, path planning, and dynamic control of our robotic platforms. Candidates should have a strong background in robotics, control theory, optimization, and system dynamics. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Develop novel motion planning algorithms and control techniques for complex robotic systems
- Design and implement real-time trajectory optimization and model predictive control strategies
- Lead the development of robust and adaptive control systems for various robotic platforms
- Collaborate with hardware and software teams to integrate motion planning and control systems into robotic platforms
- Create simulation environments for testing and validating motion planning and control algorithms
- Mentor and guide junior team members in motion planning and controls-related projects
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in robotics, optimization, and control theory
- Master's Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, or related field with relevant work experience OR significant relevant work experience in robotics
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative team setting
- Strong programming skills in C++ and Python
- Expertise in PyTorch or CUDA (preferred)
- Expert understanding of motion planning (sampling based, trajectory optimization) and robot controls
- Familiarity with machine learning approaches to motion planning and trajectory generation
