In collaboration with Eliot CHS, the City of Lynn is piloting a new unarmed crisis response program under its Department of Public Health. The Lynn Calm Team (LCT) is an exciting, evidence-informed program rooted in harm reduction and trauma-informed principles that will provide crisis response services to non-violent quality of life and behavioral health and/or homelessness issues and concerns in a compassionate, culturally relevant way. As the vendor for the (LCT), Eliot Human Services seeks qualified applicants who are passionate about advancing racial equity to support this vital program and work as a Community Outreach Manager. This is a full time position.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as psychology, sociology, social work, etc.
  • At least three years of experience working with Lynn or a similar community.
  • Must be able to approach the work with impartiality and compassion and with respect for client’s preferences for treatment/services.
  • Strong conflict resolution, de-escalation and communication skills are needed and evidence of those skills is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with both clinical and non-clinical staff and have the capacity to work effectively with the service provider community.
  • Knowledge of community resources in Lynn and/or surrounding communities and a strong commitment to community, especially racially diverse communities.
  • Flexible, reliable, and available for evening and/or weekend hours.

Must be proficient in English and fluent in Spanish and have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with clients, staff and other service providers. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, especially racially diverse communities and cultural groups.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision to CALM staff including weekly supervision of all staff and directing staff in meeting the City of Lynn standards for CALM.
  • Provide direct response and management of calls for service and lead response and connect with community partners.
  • Empower individuals to access services and connect to opportunities and provide advocacy, support, and education during response and throughout service delivery.
  • Promote hope and empowerment through meetings and support with individuals and provide side by side interventions to individuals that focus on problem solving, skills training, modeling behavior, optimism and encouragement.
  • Build relationships with new and existing partners in order to establish regular and effective communication and engagement.
  • Develop and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with various community stakeholders.
  • Maintain solid working knowledge of community continuums of care and services to optimize service referrals for families and/or stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with other responders and other community service providers to mediate and de-escalate conflict and dispute situations; work effectively to provide therapeutic interventions in crisis situations and in sometimes stressful conditions.
  • Build community trust and confidence in the LCT among BIPOC, low-income, and marginalized populations, including modeling a social justice, anti-racism approach to situations; build positive relationships with community members with frequent needs for emergency services; provide proactive, preventive services where feasible.
  • Establish and foster trusting relationships with clients and families, support and educate them on accessing the behavioral health system based upon need.
  • Gather all data requested through the CALM program.
  • Engage regularly with local key stakeholder groups and seek out and connect with new key stakeholder groups, primary care clinics, churches, markets, and other essential community support groups that work with the grants target population.

Compensation: $85,000.00 annually
