We are seeking an experienced Environmental Compliance Specialist for our operations based in Baytown, TX. This dynamic role prioritizes ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, mentoring new team members, facilitating field inspections, and leading coordination for environmental permitting. The position offers a competitive salary with a bonus scheme and is designed as a hybrid role allowing flexibility with a schedule of in-office work on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.

- Provide structured mentoring and onboarding for new employees to assist with understanding and adhering to compliance requirements and organizational procedures.
- Evaluate operational and project data within templates to ensure accuracy and compliance with required specifications.
- Lead field inspections at operational sites and on construction projects, identifying compliance improvement opportunities and ensuring sustainable corrective actions.
- Represent the company during agency inspections, serving as a primary point of contact.
- Facilitate environmental permitting processes throughout different stages of construction projects.
- Participate in evaluating and implementing regulatory changes, contributing to Industry Association committees, and supporting the company’s Regulatory Issue Guideline.
- Identify specific regulatory requirements for projects and operations, ensuring compliance through effective task management and escalation of complex issues.
- Oversee and improve compliance procedures and tools to demonstrate and facilitate ongoing adherence to environmental regulations.
- Analyze and interpret operating and inspection reports to confirm compliance, addressing issues with the support of more experienced professionals.
- Manage and oversee contract resources, including consultants providing environmental compliance support.
- Initiate and draft permit applications and ensure consistency of permit conditions with operational parameters.
- Undertake the collection of environmental samples such as air, water, and waste for analysis.
- Bachelor’s Degree in environmental sciences, natural science, or engineering or a relevant combination of education and job-related experience.
- At least 3 - 5 years of experience in environmental compliance, ideally in industrial settings.
- Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations and standards applicable to industrial operations.
- Proficiency in gathering, analyzing, and compiling environmental data and reports.
- Experience managing environmental compliance within Title V oil, gas, or chemical facilities.
- Five or more years of experience in environmental compliance roles, particularly within oil, gas, or chemical sectors.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Engineering background with integrated on-site experience alongside plant personnel.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of advising and instructing various stakeholders.
- Technical writing abilities suitable for creating clear and factual documentation and reports.
- Capability to present training materials and conduct educational sessions.
- Proficient in the use of office and specialized software, including Microsoft Office suite and relevant environmental compliance tools.
