Job Skills / Requirements

Must have a valid Michigan Concealed Pistol License.

Prior law enforcement experience required!

SCOPE: Armed Security Officers at this site are responsible for protecting the local Court of Appeals building, grounds, assets, employees, and visitors against criminal activity, accidents, fires and natural disasters, as well as providing outstanding customer service.

Schedule

  • 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM Variable Weekdays
  • Part Time 6-18 hours a month
  • No Weekends. No Holidays.

Compensation

  • Rate of Pay: $25.75 / hour

LOCATION:

The Court of Appeals in Detroit, MI and Troy, MI

Job Description/Responsibilities

  • Must provide excellent customer service when dealing with Visitors, Staff, Executives, Co-Workers, etc.
  • Observes and reports activities and incidents at assigned client locations.
  • Guard posts – this may include building lobbies, gates, reception areas, control centers, etc.
  • Conduct periodic foot patrols of the assigned locations.
  • Ensure unauthorized persons do not enter restricted areas.
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for all employees and visitors, and will enforce policies and procedures for the site location.
  • Check for employee and vendor identifications.
  • Look for suspicious persons, packages and activities.
  • Respond to emergency situations.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, follow through with client requests, and keep operations managers updated on client communications.
  • Must follow and enforce site specific post guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years old or older.
  • Must have high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have a current, valid Concealed Pistol License or be LEOSA certified.
  • May NOT have any felony convictions and must be able to pass a criminal background check in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Must pass a 5-panel drug screen upon hire and periodically thereafter.
  • Military experience or prior law enforcement experience is highly preferred for this position.
  • Must present a friendly, positive, professional image to clients, employees, supervisors, managers, and the general public.
  • Must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills and the ability to solve problems and de-escalate situations in a non-confrontational manner. These include the ability to fluently speak, understand, read, and legibly write in the English language.
  • Must possess computer skills; specifically, in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Must have the ability to stand or walk for the duration of the shift, navigate stairs, and lift up to 70 lbs.
