We are looking for an engaging, proactive, and knowledgeable person with strong HR and Risk Management skills to support our mission of providing prompt and professional leave of absence and claim handling service to approximately 750 employees at our two plant facilities and 18 distribution centers and thrift stores.
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The ideal candidate for this salaried role will partner with the Senior Manager for EHS and Security as well as other members of the senior management team and field managers. He or she will be responsible for working closely with third-party administrators (“TPAs”) to ensure the efficient and cost-effective management of workers’ compensation claims, motor vehicle accident claims, and general liability claims, and will also perform tasks associated with DOT medical compliance, FMLA administration, and ADA accommodation processes.
The Qualified Candidate Will Possess the Ability to:
This position will be predominantly seated work in a business office setting.
Ability to use general office equipment.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, using a telephone, and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift, push, pull or otherwise transport up to 25 pounds occasionally.

The Qualified Candidate Will Possess the Ability to:
- Aggressively investigate workers’ compensation, motor vehicle incidents, and general liability claims involving employees or the public and carefully document all findings.
- Work closely with the company’s two workers’ compensation TPAs and legal counsel to effectively manage and economically resolve workers’ compensation and liability claims
- Accurately communicate information to employees regarding FMLA, medical leave (LOA), and ADA eligibility and provide them with the necessary paperwork and support throughout all stages of the LOA process, including application, approval, and coordination of return to work
- Gather, review, and file all FMLA, LOA, or ADA-related medical forms and documents with a focus on paperless electronic data filing and organized record-keeping
- Provide confidential updates and reports to management regarding FMLA, MVAs, workers’ compensation claims, and ADA job accommodation
- Facilitate DOT-related medical examinations and schedule random testing, reasonable suspicion and post-accident testing, and run periodic motor vehicle reports on all company drivers
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or at least 3 years of related work experience in the Human Resources or Risk Management fields
- A working knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations
- Proficiency with HRIS systems (preferably Paychex)
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with all levels of employees, management, and the public
- Excellent organizational skills, sharp attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
- High levels of personal integrity, professionalism, and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Ability to infrequently travel to other facilities as needed
- Ability to legally work in the U.S. and possess a valid driver's license
