DPS School Bus Driver Certification or ability to obtain
Ability to pass DOT physical
Possess a good driving record as indicated on a Moter Vehicle Report
Special Knowledge/Skills Bilingual Preferred
Effective communication and interpersonal skills Strong organizational skills
Knowledge of general office procedures
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Knowledge of dispatching procedures
Good telephone and 2-way radio communication skills Proficient computer and typing skills
Ability to receive and give verbal instructions effectively Ability and knowledge of bus routes
Knowledge of student discipline procedure
Ability to manage student behavior
Ability to driver a Mini-Bus and Van
Experience Minimum Of 2 Years Successful General Office Experience
2 Years of experience in school transportation (preferred)
Major Responsibilities and Duties Maintain reception area. Receive visitors and telephone calls; determine what assistance is needed and provide appropriate assistance/information and/or direct to appropriate office or Perform the usual office routines and practices associated with a productive Assist patrons when calling in for route Maintain log on all telephone calls received and two-way radio transmissions when Perform Skylert notifications as needed to keep parents, campuses, and district personnel Remain informed of accident response procedures, g., dispatch police, ambulance, drug testing agency, notify appropriate personnel and school(s); assist in notifying parents of all students on the bus. Serve as a relief monitor as needed. Serve as a relief Class C driver as needed. Stay current with Department/District policies operating procedures and Assist the Transportation Team in maintaining accurate records and compliance with organizational standards. Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met. Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal).
