The Stores Construction and Facilities Project Manager supports the Gordon Food Service Store Facilities Team and initiatives by overseeing and driving the execution of store remodel construction, new store/relocations, and other non-construction projects. Coordinates all Gordon Food Service Store Home Office activities related to facilities remodel projects, including managing contractors. Supports the development and planning activities for other minor remodel construction-related projects.

Essential Functions

Facilities Team and Home Office Coordination

  • Supports the development of the Construction & Facilities Team's annual operation plan.
  • Supports the development of the annual Facilities Team project calendar.
  • Initiates projects to ensure proper execution of projects per the annual project calendar.
  • Coordinates GFS Home Office cross-department activities to ensure project schedules are met.
  • Facilitates best practices to support consistency across all Project Management processes.
  • Communicates with, and keeps GFS Leadership up-to-date, on construction and other projects through status reports.

Specific Projects

  • Manages projects and schedules of the various construction phases appropriately to ensure required dates are achieved to meet business plans.
  • Manages the architectural/engineering documentation process for each location from concept to plan through turnover, ensuring budget and operational needs are met and all relevant construction details are conveyed.
  • Manages all aspects of a construction process with all parties, including contractors, vendors, architects, and engineers, to ensure an on-time opening.
  • Follows a formal construction bid review process for approval by the GFS Leadership and includes the recommendation of qualified bidders, preparation of standardized contracts, bid documents, and specified qualifications.
  • Manages/maintains all construction documentation binders including plans, prints, as-builts, pay applications, and other required materials.
  • Develops capital budgets for assigned projects. Routinely monitors, manages, and controls the budget, analyzes variances takes appropriate action, and develops plans when necessary.
  • Performs on-site visits to review job progress during construction for quality and timeliness.
  • Manages specification and purchasing process for equipment and services.
  • Executes in alignment with established construction processes and procedures to meet schedules and budgets.
  • Conducts research and reports on best practices, new technology, equipment, processes, etc., that could create increased efficiencies and cost savings
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains up-to-date budget tracker
  • Keeps accounting updated on project status and budget

  • Must possess a broad knowledge of construction processes and contract law. Ability to maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field.
  • Ability to develop solutions to a variety of complex problems. May refer to established precedents and policies.
  • Knowledge of construction safety rules and regulations and ability to abide by established quality standards.

Equipment / Tools / Technology

  • Knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, project management, digital photography equipment, e-mail, and internet software applications.
  • Must be able to work remotely utilizing technology.

Associate's Degree Required. Bachelor's Degree Preferred.

Valid Driver's License Required.

Requires an associate’s degree with bachelor’s degree preferred plus five or more years of experience in commercial construction project management Retail construction experience required.
