Position Summary
A global chemical manufacturing company is expanding its production team and is seeking an experienced Chemical Production Engineer to support plant operations and continuous improvement initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to be groomed for future supervisory and management positions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in batch chemical processes, reaction chemistry, and unit operations, as well as a strong background in safety and process management.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Support: Provide day-to-day support for batch and continuous chemical operations, including troubleshooting and resolving process and equipment issues.
- Process Optimization: Track production yields, perform mass balances, and lead process improvement projects to enhance safety, productivity, quality, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Safety & Compliance: Manage and participate in Process Safety Management (PSM) initiatives, including change management processes (MOC, PSSR, hazard reviews) and conduct incident investigations.
- Operations Planning: Assist in production planning, material handling, packaging, shipping, and receiving to ensure smooth operational flow.
- Team Training & Development: Lead training sessions for operations teams to ensure adherence to safety and process standards.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Experience: 8+ years as a Process or Production Engineer in a PSM-compliant chemical manufacturing environment, with hands-on experience in reaction chemistry and a variety of unit operations (e.g., reactors, distillation, filtration, dryers).
- Process Improvement Knowledge: Familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement methodologies, and process controls; experience with PHA, MOC, and P&ID is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of unit operations and controls in chemical processes; proficiency in Safety and Quality Control (SPC, SQC).
- Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
